Parents of young kids, do yourself a favour and do not dine in in this Cinta Raya Restaurant. The ladies are mostly nice, one lady seems like a boss lady who recommended good food for us, in a pretty bossy way. I was fine with that, everybody speak in different way. But at one point, my baby started crying because he was sleepy but couldn’t fell asleep in the noise. We tried standing, rocking, going outside, but my older one followed outside and it was not very safe for him to be playing in the carpark so I went back inside and try to comfort my baby in my seat. The lady told me in mandarin ‘he wants milk! He wants milk! Don’t let him cry like that inside, bring him out!’ It was a shock for me and excused me, I know my baby was just fed an hour ago, he needs sleep not milk, but we didn’t say anything and kept our head down. The same lady also told another family with 3 young boys ‘Wa these are all yours? Oh my god.’ She proceeded to say ‘Too many kids. Look at this.’ while turning around looking and gesturing at our table. I couldn’t help but look at this lady with shock and disappointment every time she passed by our table. Everyone was stressed out, my husband, my mom and myself, until the baby calmed down in my hubbys arm.
I mean the food there is amazing and this lady she is a good waitress but hack she dislikes children, at least that’s the impression she gave me during this meal.
So don’t bring your young children to dine in here as a favour for her and yourself. Because no one should ever feel ashamed for their baby being a baby and think they’re bad parents because their baby cries. I do feel sorry for bothering other customers with my baby’s noise, but I mean I didn’t ask them to be quite so my baby can sleep. I think any decent adult can appreciate and be considerate as parents try their best to calm their crying baby, look after an older boy and at the same time finish the food quickly so they can get out soon.
Honestly I don’t ever write reviews, but something triggered me inside as a mom that I have to...

Dec2023: Ahhh … the satisfaction of having consistency in quality and taste of food!! I love Cinta Raya for that. Hokkien Mee, CLT, Yinyong, Kamheong pipis, nyonya barramundi - all the best taste of Malaysia in one place.
Today we had sambal prawns with salted fish chicken fried rice yummy 😋
Aug 2023: Still my favourite Malaysian as food taste is consistently delicious and authentic esp CKT (with wok hei), (Real) Hokkien mee, wantan hor , nasi lemak, nyonya barramundi, four heavenly kings, King toh pork chop, sambal prawn/calamari, etc etc …
Dec2022: Been a year now since discovering this amazing restaurant. Still am a regular and Kak Shirley is the best!! Love the cooking because they are consistently delicious!!!! 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
Update: I am addicted to food in this restaurant! Best Malaysian ever!!! Thanks, Shirley and boys!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Trying out this place despite remarks of bad service attitude. It seems to be the norm for chinese older generation to speak a bit more brusquely. The lady was answering the phone, cleaning, serving, taking orders - all by herself. I can understand her “grumpiness”.
She was actually quite motherly towards us, suggesting the 4 Heavenly Kings to accompany our order of Nyonya barramundi. They were both delicious. I couldn’t stop tucking into the okra, brinjal, petai and long beans. Barramundi was cooked to perfection and went so well with the nyonya style gravy.
I absolutely recommend this place to those who want to try authentic Malaysian cooking. Shirley is lovely and may cone across as terse but she has a heart of gold.
Seems their signature dish is Hainanese chicken Rice. Will try another time, cos...
