My very first experience at Comma was deliciously lovely! My partner and I went for the chefs menu. It was amazing, We were fortunate enough to try the new kangaroo dish the chef was trialing for the menu.
Our second experience, unfortunate. A midweek birthday dinner..
After announcing how beautiful our night at Comma was we decided to bring along our parents. After waiting over 55 minutes, we questioned the manger who blamed us for requesting a well done steak “as it takes 45 minutes to cook a well done steak” apparently. We were then told it’s because we ordered no starters so our mains take longer. Firstly that was never advised to us and secondly a kitchen should be run by orders. The kitchen does not determine when you eat your mains. When you enter the restaurant and order should determine when you eat your mains. Why should I wait for the restaurant to be full for my order to be cooked if I was there 45 minutes before another table.
Unfortunately in the attempt to resolve all this we were blamed, shamed and treated with utter disrespect when all we had asked was how long till our mains and why were others receiving mains and starters before we received anything. Treated with attitude and disrespect that left quite the opposite taste in my mouth than was intended.
I would rave on about how fantastic comma is to everyone and anyone but now I think I’ll wait for staff changes before going back as the service unfortunately ruined every positive aspect the food and drinks brought. Thank...

Comma is definitely the place you want to experience without kids, but they are most certainly welcome! Their beer garden offers relaxing picnic-style tables, with lawn games, which would be a perfect spot for the kids.
We visited for our first date night in so long and opted for their "Let us Choose" menu ($65 pp). We received a great mix from their menu and left extremely satisfied. The team at Comma are absolutely wonderful and know how to make the experience special.
Hummus, Crudites, Baguette Charcuterie Plate Kingfish Crudo, Cucumber, Grape, Creme Fraiche Corn, Manchego & Jalapeno Croquettes Oysters, Native Finger Lime Lamb Cutlets, Harissa, Labneh, Zaatar Octopus, Eggplant, Chickpeas, Tomato Hanger Steak, Romesco, Onion Chocolate Mille-feuille, cherry, almond praline, cardamom yoghurt.
Our serving sizes were adjusted to our party size and will vary depending on the size of your group and how busy they are. There isn't a kid's menu, but we feel our kids would have enjoyed the Hummus, Charcuterie Plate, and Octopus.
We were really impressed with everything at Comma! We wouldn't hesitate to visit with the kids to make use of their beer garden during the light hours, but it's definitely a great date or night out after dark...
Read morecomma is a local wine bar in moorabbin, offering very good plates and drinks without the pretence.
their menu has significant asian influence, with ingredients like miso, hoisin and xo popping up, and use of wok hei techniques. however, you will find intriguing combinations here like their tteokbokki gnocchi and nduja barramundi in a lemongrass ginger broth.
the croquettes were (huge!) pillows of fluffy potato heaven, bursting with the occasional sweetness of juicy corn kernals. we went hard on the veggies, loving the refreshing zucchini slaw which maintained its bite, no soggy zoodles here!. the broccolini which we could smell charring away from the kitchen, was paired delightfully with smooth, zesty ricotta and generously topped with toasted pinenuts. the barramundi was impressively very fresh and belonged no place else than in that comforting broth, with the slight but very welcomed burn of nduja and chilli. the soufflé also stole our hearts, the raspberry flavour shone through and their chocolate gelato was of course delicious and mousse-like, I just wished there were 5 more scoops of it lol.
if your in the south-east and feeling a cheeky wine and snack,...
