Walking past and could see through front windows different decor and a coffee machine so thought should check out and yes under new owners who have made some changes to what was a standard fish n chip shop. Now they offer coffee and other things so brought takeaway coffee (decaf soy latte), jam donuts (which I can never resist), a potato cake and for husband seafood salad, fruit salad and vegetarian fried rice. And the rice was really good. Will go there again to try their chips. They even offer free cordial for customers and have put in seating, inside and out. Really friendly owners so could to support them. 25.8 called in to get some takeaway - their delicious vegetarian rice, one for me, one for husband.

This one was a surprise. It's rare to get a humble fish and chips that's so good. Tony and Amy run the best shop in Melbourne. Their quality of cooking shows off the best of fresh Australian produce. The batter here is crisp and light (what oil do they use?) The calamari rings are fresh, soft and tender when you slice through. The scallops are straight out of the sea, a surprising burst of flavour. The chips (are they hand-cut?) are soft and perfectly sized. The fish (they used flake when I ate it) tasted like a real fish with definition and texture, not like the wet rubber you usually get at fish and chip stores. But you need to try the potato cakes.

Don’t let the humble fit out beguile you - these fish and chips are preeemo quality. The owners have captured what is good about Aussie fish n chips and are doing it well with fresh fish, light almost tempora like batter and crispy, delicious food. Calamari is excellent. The Orange Roughy was fresh and fell apart under its own weight as fresh fish does. Great batter. Hand cut potato cakes are hard to beat anywhere in the country - seriously the batter is the secret combined with food produce. Friendly, generous servings. A Must try. You’ll be back- I’ll bet. Surprisingly great!!!

City Hall Fish and Chips is my local go to for take away food.

I am a Local living within a 5 minute walk of City Hall Fish and Chips.

Over the years I've had Flake, Lamb Souvlaki, Hamburger with The Lot, Potato Cakes, Dim Sims and Chips.

I enjoy their Flake immensely. It sits right with me. Usually, I add Lemon to it.

I believe the Flake goes better with their Potato Cakes than their chips. The Potato Cakes are crunchy with a Soft Inside which is my preferred way of having Potato Cakes.

Lamb Souvlaki is one of my favorite foods. It's tasty, warm with Garlic Sauce. It's filling. I feel very content afterwards.

The Hamburger with The Lot -- the best way to describe them is overflowing like old fashioned hamburgers I grew up with in the 1970's. It's a real feeling of Satisfaction chomping through one.

What sets them apart is I feel very welcome them. Classic example after Social Restrictions, I walked in and they remembered me.

Usually, I ring them to place an order to pick up. They have always got my orders right over the years.

While there are table and chairs to sit down to enjoy a meal, I prefer to take my meal to one of the nearby parks. This is because the nearby parks are more relaxing with trees, bird sounds, - much more peaceful than the traffic noise of Nepean Highway.

Great people and great food.

Hope you enjoy their hospitality as...
