Corner Stonez Cafe — Restaurant in Melbourne

This morning my kids and I decided to take my wife our for a brunch for her birthday so we all went to the Corner Stonez Cafe. We waited to be seated for quite some time even though there were plenty of tables available. Eventually someone asked if we would like to be seated so we sat at table number 5.

We looked at the menu and ordered out food very quickly since we were all very hungry. It was ~11:15am and we didn't have anything to eat yet. We all ordered our food and drinks at the same time.

After some time my son's chocolate drink arrived as well as my wife's flat white. My daughter and I didn't received our small cappuccinos. Then the food started arriving. My daughter, my son and my wife all received their meals but I didn't. My daughter and I still didn't have our cappuccinos. They only arrived almost when their meals were finished. I still haven't received my meal at that time.

They all finished their meals and we all finished our drinks but I still didn't get my meal. I ordered the avocado salsa meal.

Since we had a commitment to drop my daughter at her friends house because they were going away on holiday together we couldn't wait any longer so we got up and paid for the 3 meals and 4 drinks.

About 30 minutes after we left I though I'd call them up as and just find out why I never received my meal - before I write anything on Google reviews. I was told to come to the restaurant because "these matters are only discussed face-to-face". So I never got a reason why I never got my meal.

TL:DR - Great food, abysmal service.

I'd like to preface this review by stating that the Corner Stonez was not busy. Most of the place was empty at the time we arrived.

Been here several times before but I've never been more dissapointed in my life, the service was abysmal to say the least. We weren't seated, just directed to a table, the table was dirty and sticky, the highchair for our child was dirty and sticky (fortunately we had baby wipes to clean up the mess the staff couldn't clean)

We sat down for about 10 minutes before the staff informed us that that we needed a qr code to order, which is insane because now you get up charged an extra few dollars because the resteraunt decided (I'm assuming) that this is a more cost effective way of managing things. It's unfortunatly a pain because aside from the up charge you also have to enter a bunch of personal information and also opt out of a bunch of spam emails and other nonsense.

All of this just to order food, at the very least give the customers options to choose weather or not they want to have a physical menu. It seems a bit redundant and frustrating.

After the staff brought our coffees and juices I took it upon myself to get cutlary, how else was I supposed to put sugar in my coffee?

The cafe looks very nice, it's refreshing from the previous cafe. Clean too. Staff friendly and helpful. Has variety of sweets, cooked food, and drinks. Personally, we felt it's a little expensive. We had coffee and sweets. But saw other customers ordering food such as breakfast, and left half of it and making comments of not enjoying it for what ever reason. Kept hearing it was new 'in' cafe, but I feel very over rated for what you pay for. Won't stop me from going to get coffees though it was very good the last couple of times of going. Júst note to management, as alot of other customers maybe feel the same, but when customer's, bring pets to your outdoor sections that's all good, but it's not acceptable when staff go petting, cuddling, letting the pet lick their face, then go behind the counter to serve, rearranging food display, without washing their hands etc we were all appalled, and disgusted, not point checking vaccines etc, if food hygiene is not considered.
