Dragon Hot Pot on Russell Street is easily one of my go-to places in Melbourne when I’m craving something warm, fresh, and filling. What I really like about this place is the amount of choice you get. You pick your own ingredients from a huge selection—fresh vegetables, different kinds of noodles, tofu, mushrooms, seafood, and meats if you want. Everything is priced by weight, so you can really build your bowl the way you like it. For me, the best part is the veggie broth. It’s light, tasty, and still full of flavour. I often pair it with tofu, mushrooms, leafy greens, and a bit of noodle, and it always feels comforting without being too heavy. It’s also great that they have plenty of vegetarian and vegan-friendly options, which makes it easier to enjoy with friends who have different preferences. The restaurant itself has a busy, lively atmosphere, especially at night, but that adds to the fun. Since it’s open 24/7, it’s perfect for late-night meals after work or catching up with friends. Sometimes it can get crowded, but service is usually quick and you don’t have to wait too long once you’ve picked your bowl. Overall, Dragon Hot Pot on Russell Street is a reliable spot with great flavours, fresh ingredients, and the big bonus of being open all day and night. I definitely recommend it if you enjoy hot pot and want something tasty, simple, and satisfying in the city.

You know, I just experienced eating hot pot at the restaurant this afternoon, and I had a terrible afternoon. The staff's attitude towards customers, when I brought the food to pay, the male employee asked me if I wanted to reduce it because the food seemed a bit much compared to the two of us, we asked for it to reduce it and there was still nothing. But the female employee took the payment and smashed the pile on the table as if tormenting me and speaking in Chinese as if we didn't have enough money to eat, speaking loudly and echoing into the kitchen, speaking in a mocking tone, while the male staff was very polite and affectionate, the female friend spoke very loudly and for a long time, as a guest in the shop came to watching us. While there is nothing. Ah, but also give us 2 bowls and 1 spoon to put it on the table😳 Food is not cheap and 10% weekend fee that treats guests like beggars. And do not give customers the payment invoice. I have experienced many stores at other branches and am a loyal fan, but now I will never return to this brand. This is the image I took.

ORDERED: šŸœ Hot pot ($49.28/$24.64pp) REVIEW: šŸ• Around 12:00pm there were still plenty of seats. However, it got rapidly filled by 1:00pm so come a bit earlier if you want good seating! Delicious food, Dragon Hot Pot is like *premium instant noodles* with delicious malatang soup. You get to pick your toppings as well, so it should go good if you pick what you like! The ingredients are pretty fresh. The broth it has a spicy peppery kick from the Sichuan pepper and dried chilli pepper. My tongue did get a little numb. 🌶 It's seriously addictive. It tastes even better when you're coming back from the club in early hours in the morning. šŸŒ” The smaller bowls are self serve (so you can share 1 big bowl between 2), with chopsticks and a BYO sauce station by the doorway. The sauces are pretty limited, but it's enough to make a potent sesame-based sauce with tonnes of soy sauce and coriander. It's a perfect winter dish that makes me feel warm inside. Definitely a guilty pleasure of mine. šŸ”„

Our first and last time at Russell Street Dragon Hot Pot. They tried to ruin our evening by selling us a container of soup base that was not even half full.... (We bought one limited edition Tom Yum soup base as take away). At home we had to add water and veggie broth into it to have enough liquid to go with the veggies and meat we wanted to add. Surprisingly it tasted good, therefore they did not manage to ruin our evening but shame on them! The other store at QV also sells the soup base to go and we have bought it 2 or 3 times and it has been about half full or a little bit fuller but not LESS than half full. Did they sell us the last Tom Yum of the day (it was about 9 pm) but there was not enough left to fill half a container but they still happily took our money? So rude. Also, please learn some basic English... We live in an English speaking country afterall, therefore you should be able to serve the customers in English. We asked if they have laksa base (because QV store has it as limited edition) and the answer was yes. Then when we order the laksa, they say they don't have laksa xD Also, why do they sometimes charge for the container? And sometimes not. Sometimes surcharge for using a card, sometimes not. Very confusing. Can I bring a used Dragon Hot Pot container next time and avoid paying for the container? Please let me know :D P. S. The laksa and the Tom Yum limited edition soup bases are very good, no complaints about the flavor, just about the poor service at Russell...

VERY VERY RUDE AND AGGRESSIVE AND IRRESPECTIVE STAFF. DISGUSTING CUSTOMER SERVICE. Went in with my elderly family and some friends, and requested to sit at one table at the door, the staff with bleached hair told us there were only 2 seperate tables so we could go in first to choose our food and that she would sit us togather when theres a big table available . After we've bought our food we saw a empty table available and my father kindly asked the bleached hair lady again if we could move to the big table, and she scolded him aggressively saying theres many people waiting outside and the table is for them not us, and that she only allowed us in because we could sit separate and that she wont allow us to sit togather, Gurl, we requested to sit togather at the doorrrr!! You should have asked us to move to the big table before you gave the big table to the next customer since you agreed at the door, if not we wouldnt have came in😔 Even if so, you could be more respectful and polite speaking to your customers especially an elderly, not yelling at us. Made us buy and paid our food then ignored our requests. We would've just walked out with this type of service. We are very offended especially that this happened to our elderly. She really should get fired. It would be a negative figure star if...
