Over the past weekend, I stayed at this hotel for Friday and Saturday nights with my partner. Our experience was utterly disappointing.
Positives include the comfy bed and nice sheets. Unfortunately, this is where it ends.
Prior to check in, around 11am on Friday, I received an email saying I had purchased items from the mini bar. It was not until I called the hotel around an hour later, was it clarified that this ‘was a mistake’ - yet no one bothered to call or email me prior to tell me to disregard this email. I’m sure you can appreciate my shock when receiving an email about a charge when I hadn’t even checked in!
Things unfortunately did not improve upon check in to our room. No one assisted us with our bags, nor did anyone show us where things were located in the room - especially the tea and cups which were hidden (yet the wine you offer for sale is right on display).
The aircon was noisy with a high pitched hum all weekend, we were woken regularly by the sound of passing guests because there was no soundproofing at the door, and the blind was not blockout so we were woken before 7am by the sunlight. Rather, the blind is a cheap dusty roller blind with gaps around the edges - not what I would expect from a 5 star hotel!
The carpet was dirty upon arrival, and was not vacuumed at all during our stay. I had to ask for slippers because I was not keen to walk on the carpet and didn’t want to keep wearing shoes inside. The room was dusty, and the sheer curtain had pulls/marks.
The housekeeping failed to attend our room, despite us being out between 12:30pm and 7:30pm - the bed was left unmade and we had to ask for fresh towels. When we raised this with your reception team, they simply said ‘we will have to check with our housekeeping manager tomorrow, but nothing can be done now as they have gone home’. The staff member offered a late checkout, but that did not remedy the problem, we wanted our room cleaned and our bed made.
Other complaints include the size of the shower, the lack of clarity around light switches and having to lean over the table to get to turn off the floor lamp - where is the master switch for all lights including the lamps, and a master switch by the bed? Plus the lack of hooks to hang bathrobes and towels (other than in the shower where the towel rail is located - what a silly place to put a towel rail).
As a frequent traveller for work and pleasure, these are simple things I have come to expect from reputable four and five star hotels. This hotel is marketed as a five star hotel, yet does not live up to this.
We are very disappointed with our stay, and would not recommend this hotel to any of our friends or family. This hotel was not the luxury stay promised by its advertising, which we were otherwise very much...
Read moreWe booked this hotel for a city escape . At check in I politely asked if we could have a quiet room and was met with a fairly defensive and cold reaction which I now realise at the end of our stay why We didn’t book an expensive room but it wasn’t the cheapest either When we got up to the room which was on level two on a Thursday afternoon we saw we were right across from a construction site . My wife went down and spoke to a staff member again and asked (again) if they could possibly give us a quiet room knowing that the building site would be noisy . We could hear yelling, swearing and tools through the poorly insulated windows to the work site which was only approx 5m across a small lane way My wife came back up saying the staff member would “talk” to the construction site people and that they "weren't" onsite working everyday (bs)The staff that we spoke with , and there were a few of them that rotated in shifts, did everything they could to make us stay in the exact room we initially landed in . And of course the stay went the way we anticipated . Over the next two days the noise from the construction site and the alley below lead us to have a poor experience. The windows are poorly insulated from the outside. A second layer of Glass should have been considered. Photos uploaded of how close the construction site and workers were . It’s a pity our experience was so poor with this particular room. The room size and decor were very nice but the staff willingness to see our concern of potential noise to come was completely ignored and we were met with responses of smoke and mirrors Room tip :AVOID rooms across from the construction site on Level 2 on the WEST side Machinery , vehicles reversing , grinders and workers yelling and carrying on. We had to have the block out curtains drawn the whole...

Super plush, soft beds and crisp linen. There is a pillow menu so you are able to Goldilocks your way to a pillow that’s juuuust right.
Exceptionally clean rooms and bathrooms, large flat screen TV with Apple T.V., Netflix, Disney, Youtube, Kayo Sports, and more. Great selection of drinks from the minibar
Perfect/ideal central location within walking distance to all the best spots in the city, and close to multiple forms of public transport.
Tonnes of fantastic restaurants, cafes and bards… anything you feel like is within walking distance.
The staff at the Lancemore were beyond helpful. I had a minor noise issue in the middle of the night and called reception. Lisa was amazing, she found a replacement room and moved me right away, no problem at all. I am super grateful.
As I arrived early on my check-in day, the staff stored my luggage and had it sent up to my room as soon as it was ready, it was already in my room when I arrived after a long day of work. What was fantastic was the hotel stored my luggage on the day of my checking out as I had to attend another full day conference, and wasn’t checking in to my next accommodation (seperate hotel) until the evening. The staff member, Marvin was more than willing to store mine (and my business partner’s) luggage for the day and was so helpful.
There’s a very cool rooftop terrace with tables, chairs, lounges and even day beds where you can be served drinks from the hotel bar.
Definitely will be staying here on my next trip!
p.s. excuse my photos attached, I forgot to take photos when I first arrived so I took them when i was checking out... ignore my floor...
