"Recently (11:45 pm, 07 August 2023), I encountered an unfortunate incident involving 'education,' harassment, and racial discrimination from an unidentified employee at your establishment.
Upon arriving at the hotel (Jones Lane) after a late work finish, my colleague and I found my room in disarray. There were towels on the floor, trash in the bin, and an untidy bed, greatly affecting my mood. The most significant issue was the absence of clean towels, leaving me unable to shower and rest. When I called the front desk, it took an extended period for someone to answer, and instead of an apology, I was told it was because of a 'Do Not Disturb' sign, which was surprising.
Subsequently, I requested clean towels, but your employee continued with her explanation, assuring me that someone would speak with me shortly. However, I waited for nearly fifteen minutes without any contact. It was nearing midnight, and I was exhausted when I called again, and your employee insisted I come downstairs to discuss the matter. I only requested a clean towel, and I'm uncertain if this simple request was too much for your hotel to handle, as she failed to address my concern. After multiple disappointments, my frustration escalated, and your employee abruptly hung up, which can be verified through call records.
After calming down, I visited the front desk. Before I could speak, your employee lectured me on being polite, but I don't believe I was impolite. She then retreated to the office, informing me that she refused to assist me.
I made another call from my room, emphasizing that I merely needed a towel, no longer caring about the cleaning. Your employee denied me a chance to speak and continuously refused to help. By this time, it was past midnight, and I still hadn't received a towel.
I'm deeply disappointed to write this review, as I doubt I'll have the opportunity to shower tonight. Moreover, the disgusting clump of hair on the towel has made it unsuitable for use. I initially thought I could endure this, but now I seek an explanation from the hotel. If I don't receive a prompt response, along with a personal apology from your staff, I will post pictures on Google as a reference for future guests. I will also file a complaint with relevant authorities to raise awareness of my experience.

It’s situated in a prime location, offering easy access to all of Melbourne’s vibrant culture, renowned dining spots, and entertainment, making it ideal for anyone wanting to explore the city.
The comfort of the rooms has also been a highlight in the past, with the beds generally being amazing plush, cozy, and perfect for a restful night’s sleep. However, our most recent visit left us incredibly disappointed. Despite the hotel’s potential and history of providing a comfortable stay, the cleanliness has gone from bad to worse, and it’s hard to believe that management has allowed it to fall into such a state.
The bathroom in our room was appalling, with mold-covered silicone and grout and a foul odor. The exhaust fan was covered with lint and appeared to be harbouring mold, failing to do its job and contributing to the damp, unpleasant smell. This was shocking considering how luxurious the space is in terms of design. The soiled mattress was another major letdown. While the beds are usually a high point, a closer inspection revealed stains that shouldn’t be overlooked in any accommodation, let alone one with such a reputation.
Sadly, these cleanliness issues extend beyond just the room. The common areas, including the lifts and hallways, were neglected, with smudges, dirt, and sticky floors in places where you’d expect cleanliness to be a priority. The general neglect of these spaces makes it clear that there’s little regard for the basic maintenance required to keep the hotel at the level of quality it once had.
For a hotel that has so much going for it such as the beautiful design, great location, and comfort the severe lack of cleanliness is utterly unacceptable. I’m truly at a loss as to how this place has let such basic hygiene slip through the cracks. Given the convenience and charm this hotel could offer, I truly hope management addresses these cleanliness concerns. Read more5 nights stay, across a weekend & public holiday. nice new hotel, rooms are very clean and a little on the smaller size for our king room. Great location and walking distance to get the 30/35 tram or city circle tram and walking distance to QV and Melbourne central. Perfect spot! Very comfortable beds, made daily upon request, however some sheets not changed during stay. Our room’s window had a window above the bed which we were surprised to see as all of the pictures showed the king rooms had a window opposite the bed. Had to climb onto the bed to open window or curtains as it was positioned right up against the back of the bed. Would have been nicer to have the room with better view and at least a small table and chair in the room. Air con worked great, TV with chrome cast was nice as we got to watch our own streaming accounts. Bathroom a little small, but shower takes up the space of bathroom, water pressure on shower not very good. That was one thing we found we really didn’t like. We asked front desk and was told all showers in hotel are like that to conserve water, found it very hard to wash hair and water pressure is just very very low and not enjoyable when showering. We also wish they had a spot near the sink to hang a hand towel as we had to hang it on the back of the door. Room was quite and had a small balcony which we didn’t expect, that was a nice surprise. Cafe near lobby has closed down. Lots of nice restaurants close by to hotel. Towels changed daily upon request. Late checkout offered upon request. Luggage minding service upon request.
