This place has been our life-saver since we arrived in Melbourne. We moved to a flat that was furnished, but there were some things that we still had to bought and we have found almost everything here! Is quite similar to Greek Jumbo or Spanish Primark. Very recommended if you need to get a bunch of things with an adjusted budget.

I will detail below some of the best articles that you can buy here at a cheap price if you just moved (for example, the Work and Holiday visa people), with the prices at which I got them.

If you get a work as pickpacker, warehouse, etc: Blacksmith Sparky Steel Cap Work Boots. AU$79,00 / The ones with laces are the most comfortable and will save your feet from blisters and wounds. Believe me, you´ll thank me later. Blacksmith Short Sleeve Hi Vis Polo Work Shirt. AU$9.00 / Cheaper tham the Tradie, and you can always wear your own black clothing under the Shirt to not be cold. Blacksmith Cargo Work Pant. AU$39,00 / This just in case they ask for it, in most of the places they allow you to work with jeans. TOTAL: AU$127,00, and now you have a confortable and complete Hi Vis equipment for any job that requires it!

For your house: Philips Series 3000 Kettle. AU$49,00. This is not the cheapest but is the best in price-quality terms. Boiling water in 120 seconds... it will help you to save a lot in your electricity bill. Brita XL 3,5L with 2 filters. AU$45,00. Tap water is not good here in Melbourne, but bottled water is quite expensive. You´ll safe a lot of money with the Brita and Big W always has good deals for it. Contempo 2-in-1 Corded Stick Vacuum Cleaner. AU$32,00 / The cheapest vacuum ever. Of course it´s not the best option to save money in your electricity bill, but if you use it only once per week and combine it with the mop the rest of the time, it will be ideal. Sabco SuperSwish Xtra 2 Pack. AU$29,00. With this mop you can maintain your floor during the week using the dry pad, and complete the cleanning after the vacuum with the wet one. TOTAL: AU$155,00, and you ensured savings in water and electricity bill, and covered your floor cleaning!

Then, you have the rest of the random items that you may need: Kitchen menage: pack 3 kitchen towels for AU$3,00; section with tongs, scissors, peelers, spatulas, cutting boards, etc etc for only AU$1,75 each; pack 3 Masterclass pans AU$18,00 (they are AMAZING, best deal of all)... Organisation stuff: laundry hamper 60L for AU$19,00; set 3 mini baskets AU$7,00; storage container 15L for AU$6,00...

Prices are of course changing, but as you can see, there are a lot of good deals that you can get from here.

I had one of the worst customer service experiences at Big W QV recently. There were three staff at the self-checkout counter, and not one of them showed even basic manners or courtesy. I first asked one worker to remove the security tag on a pair of pants I had picked up. Her response? A blunt, “After you’ve paid,” with no greeting, no “please,” no “thank you” — just a cold, commanding tone as if I were bothering her.

After paying, I asked another staff member to reprint my receipt. Again, no greeting — just instructions barked at me to move my paid items off the counter. She was clearly impatient, distracted, and reluctant to help, barely paying attention as she eventually reprinted the receipt.

Then I had to go to a small counter to get the security tag removed. I was clearly carrying a lot of items, yet the staff member took her time, slowly walking to an assisted (but closed) counter to finally remove the tag. Zero effort to make things easier or even acknowledge the inconvenience.

Big W, what kind of customer service are you offering? I understand being a low-cost retailer, but does that also mean treating customers with zero respect? I've had better service at a $2 shop.

To top it off, when I tried to leave feedback online, your system only operates during weekday business hours — and outside of that, you get a bot. No human, no help. Just like in-store.
