Chose this place to try over our usual spots because of the good reviews and I haven't regretted something so much in a while. Dumplings were thick and overfilled, not cooked properly and the vegetarian filling was not great. Very disappointing. The fried rice tasted okay but clearly had old vegetables which ruined it. Even the chili oil had no flavour or spice. Honestly, this place is so difficult to get to/out of the way (unless you live in Beaconsfield) and there food so mediocre (at best) that I'd never go back there. Vibes in the restaurant were also not great and the staff not friendly (which I'm normally not even bothered by) but then also refused to take my $50 note because it was SLIGHTLY wrinkled. I would've looked past all of that and more if the food was good.
Edit to say I fried them up for lunch the next day and they were actually not that bad. They were just not cooked properly (steamed or fried ones) and the filling was super boring flavour-wise. I used a higher quality soy and a homemade chilli oil to dip them in and they were okay. Steamed they absolutely suck because the wrappers are too thick and...
Read moreThis places dishonesty made me want to leave this review. With cheap fast food im expecting to get my moneys worth, which in this case is just hastily prepared rice dishes and some sweet lemon chicken. But me and my friend wanted to get some authentic soup dumplings and FOOLISHLY thought that "Dumpling Palace" might be the place to go. When our "Home made xoa long bao" came to our table I immediately noticed that it was the store bought machine procced dumplings, which was frustrating! Cause sure there where more than enough signs to point out that this place wouldn't bother making home made dumplings (not just the "no cash on premisis" sign(server was more than happy to take cash payment with the same hands she used to serve our food!!)) but they went out of their way to clarify that they made it there!! If I went into deatail about every problem I had with this place I could be here for everrr so I'll just leave you with some advice, dont go here for dumplings, go to ALDI for your dumplings and save yourself 4 dollars, you'll get more for...
Read moreWe dined in. Very busy night with most tables filled and take away orders flying out the door. Nice to see our area now has a dumpling place but we were a little disappointed. No doubt this would be due to teething issues as they are newly opened and it was a very busy night. A suggestion would be to have table numbers on each table to help wait staff as we were given other tables meals a few times throughout the night. I ordered Yunton soup and was given Wonton soup. The soup was luke warm and lacking flavour but I topped up with soy sauce to give it a boost. My dumplings were steamed chicken and mushroom and very nice. My partner ordered deep fried chicken strips with special sauce as an entree (came out as his main and was bland) and pan fried pork and chive dumplings which were tasty. The dumplings seem to be the winner. Will wait until they settle...
