I've moved around a bit and had to try the local take aways once moving to my new digs. I've been using the Beach St shopping centre a little as it's near my new home. Beach Street Barber is great, the Fish and Chip shop is awesome and the IGA there is small but well stocked and the staff are great people every last one. But this review is about the Emperor Palace restaurant. It's next door to a $2 dollar shop so perhaps some of the low budget vibes have seeped through the wall and infected this eatery. The food was sub par and then some. I ordered a serve of the beef skewers with satay sauce and the meat was drier than jerky. The satay sauce, which came in an awful little leaking cup with a press on lid, was an embarrassment to the Asian food culture in its entirety. I also ordered a staple...'Singapore Noodles - Hot'. There were more bean shoots than noodles in the pack and the rest was so watery it was inedible and it wasn't 'Hot'. The Vegetarian Fried my mother ordered was bland and tasted as if it had been prepared using rice which was cooked at least two days earlier and left in the fridge. Just don't waste your money. The food is bloody awful. I'm surprised I didn't end up with food poisoning. Truly. It was an experience which will never be repeated. They got my money once. Never again. And the cost for these three basic dishes?? Almost exactly $50!? How? Why? If the food was a of a better quality and had been delivered I see that as a reasonable cost but this food was picked up. I wish we'd chosen another place to get some dinner....
Read moreLast time I ordered here was 2 weeks ago, usually the food is nice, but when i got home the dim sims were burnt, the fried rice was gluggie like steam rice. I rang them to inform them about the problems, i was informed that the manager would call back. Giess what he didnt. When i rang tonight (26/6/2020), I mentio ed to the lady who answered the phone about the manager not calling back, she went and spoke to him and he said because I had added things to my order there was nothing he could do. Well i didnt add anything to my order I just removed things. How is it my fault that the dim sims were burnt the rice was gluggie nothing like fried rice at all. I then asked to speak to the manager and was informexd that he could talk and did not want to talk to me. I would not recommend this place anymore, also I asked if I could speak to the owner and was told that I couldnt as well. No customer service here at all. U feel sorry for the young lady who works their as she is really...
Read moreWe ordered lemon chicken and sweet and sour pork. I received two containers of sweet and sour sauce for the pork, and no lemon sauce for the chicken.
The chicken was chewy, and the batter for both dishes was severely brown and overcooked; they clearly don't change their oil on a regular basis.
I'm also certain that what we ordered had just been sitting in the fridge all night, and that they threw it in the microwave before we got there, as she said it would all be ready in 15 minutes prior to ending the call. It was warm but not hot when I picked it up.
The special fried rice was nothing other than rice with a few prawns thrown in.
It was an absolute waste of $50. The only reason I'm giving it 1 star is because the person I spoke to and saw...
