Have been interested in coming to escagrill for a long time now, so decided to come out and grab a feed.
Front of house staff are fantastic, the food is great and it's very reasonably priced for what you get.
They got me seated very quickly, and a drink out to me, the food came out quick too.
However, the reason I'm giving three stars is because the chef with the big watch was being abusive to his staff, it's not something I want to see or appreciate happening to people who are very clearly hustling and working flat out to keep everyone fed.
The chef acts like he's in the trenches defending Kyiv, barking out to his staff yelling at them to hurry up and that 'they're waiting on you' to a guy absolutely hustling all night.
Horrible look to have an open kitchen, customers at the bar and old mate here acting like the crew commander of a Ukrainian T72 on the battlefield in Mariupol while they all yell 'YES CHEF!' to his abuse - you run a kitchen, not the defence of a nation, relax.
The food is great, the front of house staff are great, chef who yells at everyone else to hurry up while all he does is shuffling paper around and putting garnishes on dishes before handing them over to the front of house staff? Not so much.
Give it a go, but attitude adjustment required for the crew commander in the T72, I mean chef in...
Read moreWe've been coming here to celebrate our anniversary for the last 3yrs plus & also other meals in between. Obviously we had enjoyed it, except this last time. We booked online & requested a quieter seating, we were place between two tables, there were booths on the top area which would've been a bit more private. We understand too that after covid prices on produce etc have risen however it shouldn't mean that portion sizes shrink. The 2 small zucchini flowers as entre were lost on the plate as was the specials pasta as entre and both around $28, yes they were nice but nothing to brag about. My biggest disappointment was the linguine seafood pasta. Again the flavours were nice but where was the seafood?! Two prawns were visible on the plate, 2 shells of muscles I think the actual muscles was in the pasta, it was quite dimmed so I really couldn't see it. And the small clam shells were there too, to pay $48 for that was a bit of a sting I expected more seafood. The tablecloth on tables with linen napkins gives it a nice touch. But its about the whole experience & we feel let down this time. We have decided to take our business elsewhere. We know there are others restaurants...
Read moreOur dinner at Escagrill was excellent! We had the premium seafood platter with added lobster (although we knew lobster is pricey, after seeing on the bill that it cost $90 I'd say it probably wasn't a worthwhile addition despite being tasty). Everything was delicious and good quality. We ordered a side of potatoes which hadn't shown up halfway through our platter until I asked about them - our server Nikhil apologised and had them rushed over and even removed the potatoes and an additional beer from the bill due to the slip-up. We hadn't even made a fuss about it so to see this level of service for a simple mistake was very impressive. Nikhil continued to be an excellent waiter throughout the whole evening. Finished with a tiramisu and semifreddo for dessert which were both very yum. Will definitely be returning another time to try out the steaks and other menu items! Only thing to note - it's almost impossible to find a park around surrounding streets due to it being predominantly all permit zones. Make sure to allow yourself time before your booking. We ended up parking at the Woolworths a few...
