The bakehouse is obviously quite popular with the older locals, and they get great service as a result, but as someone from out of town, who came in to have a look at what was available (and said so upon entering) to have the young counter girl stare us down and repeatedly ask if we were ready to order, was really off-putting. I eventually got flustered and ordered some foccacias, which in hindsight was a huge mistake. The schnitzel was so heavily laden with oil it repeated on me all the way home, and had obviously been cooked and reheated a few times as the "meat" was beyond dry. The "Parisian" foccacia was just purely bland, both rolls were well over cooked and a hideous waste of $9ea. Also, if you enjoy your coffee bitter and burnt, this is the place to go. Read moreThis is my go to place for good coffee and cakes. I love the caramel slice here (only $4) and my daughter loves the cheesecake. The caramel slice has a soft chocolate top and the base is like eating ANZAC biscuit. The coffee is really good too, strong but creamy at the same time.
All the other cafes around the block are expensive, this place only sets me back $10 for a cake and regular coffee. They have an all day deal for egg bacon muffin and small coffee for $8.50. Bargain!
