I don’t usually leave bad reviews, but I feel it’s important to share my experience so others can make an informed decision especially if you’re ordering for a special occasion.

I placed an order for a birthday cake a week in advance via their online store, and even followed up via message to confirm it had gone through. I requested a delivery and paid extra for a handwritten birthday note, which they agreed to. We confirmed that the extra fees would be paid by cash on delivery.

Come the day of the event, the cake did not arrive. I tried calling and messaging multiple times with guests already at my home and they were completely unresponsive until much later. When someone finally answered, there were no apologies or accountability. I was simply told the delivery driver was “running late” and, shockingly, was rudely told I should “just come pick it up myself.”

Given the situation, I agreed and sent my partner immediately only to find out the cake wasn’t even ready. They were still making it in front of him.

This meant all my guests were waiting for the cake to arrive, and the whole party was delayed by over 1.5hr as we had to wait for my partner to come back and for them to finish the cake. When we finally received it, there was no handwritten birthday note, no special touches, just a generic cake with zero personalisation, despite planning for otherwise.

We ordered a cake online from Evergreen Cake on Sunday and never received any confirmation, even though we entered the correct email. We tried calling and emailing the shop multiple times with no response for days.

It wasn’t until we started asking for a refund that someone finally got back to us. But by then, we had already ordered a new cake from another place because we had no idea what was going on with our original order.

Now the shop is refusing to give us a refund and is only offering store credit, which we don’t want. This whole situation was caused by their lack of communication, not ours. To make things worse, they hung up on us during a call when we insisted on a refund.

My verdict? Absolutely fantastic! The cake is light and airy, and the flavours are spot on. The distinctive bitter yet sweet taste of matcha, the robust flavour of milk tea, and the earthy sweetness of taro - perfection! The Magnum Swiss Roll comes with a crunchy chocolate shell, making it a textural delight. The soft chewy jelly in the Swiss Rolls complement the creamy filling perfectly, and each bite is just heavenly.
