Garwah Chinese Cafe — Restaurant in Melbourne

When I arrived at 5:35pm it was already busy, regardless I proceeded to order.

By 6:15pm the venue was full with people complaining of long waits, I ignored them as I knew it was busy and would take time.

At 6:25pm the lady at the front called out my order and reached into an esky (the last time she opened the esky was 10 minutes ago). I held the food in front of me as she handed it across and she thought I was wanting something else, I just said 'has that been in there the whole time?'. The lady laughed in my face like it was a joke and I left.

I was okay with the almost hour wait until this point. In some way I feel bad because you can see they're trying, even though they seem disorganised and are not used to being so busy.

The food overall was good (despite it sitting in an eski for 10 minutes whilst I patiently waited), although the dimsim I had ordered had been put in a bag long before I received the order and had now stuck to the paper. I don't think I'll give this place another...

I enjoy The Dinner box beef in pepper sauce with fried rice as it is Incredibly TASTY WOK FIRED FOOD, at very reasonable prices that is eaten at a highly satisfying temperature. Chinese cuisine takeaway that is cooked with the love of a Family owned business that has served our Coburg community for years. The local families, tradies and other workers, students among many others order from here. At a few peak times there can be a longer waiting periods as this is not the mass produced McDonalds service model. I recommend a phone order in advance (they will give you an approximate wait time for it to be ready for your pickup) to factor this in for your customer experience. Or there is food delivery companies you can utilise. It would be terrible to miss out on this food for that reason alone. I am always happy in exercising my patience for this service. Garwah Chinese Cafe is a small local place but turning out a range of dishes from the kitchen. There's a few tables and a high bench but mainly it's suited to takeaway. There are lunch and dinner specials. I got the lunch special of beef with black bean sauce with fried rice and from the mains, chilli pork.

The fried rice is lovely with good flavour and the beef in black bean sauce is on point, tender but not too salty or overpowering. Definitely a good value meal for lunch. The pork is also tender with a range of vegetables and a lovely sauce with just enough chilli hum without it being too hot....
