Genesis Drive Thru Cafe — Restaurant in Melbourne

What a life saver for this tired mama, in need of a decent coffee & a bite to eat after a sleepless night with a fussy baby, finally getting the baby to sleep in the back seat, a stroke of luck led me to discover a hidden gem of a drive-thru coffee shop, three weeks ago, thanks to Google. This place is far from your average cookie-coffee joint; it offers a variety of delicious options beyond the typical drive-thru fare.

Pulling up to the window about three weeks ago, l was greeted by a friendly staff member. Imagine my surprise when, after ordering a cheese tomato toastie, I was asked about my preferences for bread, salt, pepper, & butter. It wasn't just a premade item waiting to be handed over; it was freshly made & toasted to perfection. What?!?? I must admit, l've never had a better toastie, no one gets it right, it just becomes that ‘oh well it will do’ kind of food but this place has the right crunch, the perfect cheese & pull, & the option to customize it to my liking, I do like my extra salt. I think I’ve ordered this more than I can count on one hand & it’s consistently been great, I know I am going on & on about a toastie, but seriously don’t underestimate an amazing toastie, it’s my little heaven.

Not to mention the halloumi pie, spinach & feta pie, & the delightful mango & passion fruit yogurt that I’ve enjoyed from their amazing menu.

But what truly keeps me coming back is not just the food, coffee but the exceptional service & the warm, welcoming attitude of the staff. When you're driving around trying to get your baby to sleep & need a quick pit stop for coffee without getting out of the car, the efficient, quick (without compromising your food or coffee) & friendly service provided on each visit is truly remarkable. Since discovering this place, l've found myself there almost every other day! Hey, baby gets to sleep & mama gets her coffee what a win, win situation!!

You know when you come across people who just love what they do, and take pride in their work? That’s the staff at Genesis- so genuinely enthusiastic and passionate about their business and it comes through in their quality coffee and food. The coffee is simply perfect, so smooth and flavourful. The food is fresh, tasty and prepared with love. Cool clean vibes that we love to visit when we’re nearby. The drive thru aspect is EVERYTHING, what I would’ve given to have this close by when I had napping babies in the car!! You can pick up a much needed quality caffeine hit for yourself, healthy fresh food for kids, all without having to get out of the car! And while supporting a cherished small business. My parents who are both disabled/elderly like to come past also and they can get the best coffee and Haloumi cheese pies (which they love), without having to make the effort of getting out of the car- especially in temperamental Melbourne weather. A family member of mine is a regular customer at Acai Genesis, and always receives great service, but unfortunately, their experience tonight was very disappointing. While the worker who served them in the drive thru initially seemed friendly, their attitude changed quickly and became unnecessarily rude.

They made an inappropriate comment, suggesting my family member doesn't know how to drive correctly and screamed they would "get booked" for using their phone, even though their car was fully parked, along with many other small rude remarks. This kind of interaction felt confrontational and uncalled for, especially considering they have been a loyal customer with no previous issues.
