Edit (Jan 2023) We called Tanya, and she apologised and provided us with a voucher for two pork knuckles.
Will provide an updated review once we have gone back and tried the pork knuckle.
They never delivered the pork knuckle we pre-ordered, and then served us raw chicken.
Let me elaborate.
Our group booked and pre-ordered two pork knuckles. We received email confirmation two days before, and staff member Tanya gave us a phone call the day before to confirm our order.
On the day, we were told there was a miscommunication and there was no pork knuckle because it was Greek night. They said even though we had pre-ordered and received email AND phone confirmation, there was no way we'd get our pork knuckle and to order off the Greek menu.
We explained it had taken us a couple of months to schedule this dinner (shift work and unforseen health complications had gotten in the way) and we'd been looking forward to trying the pork knuckle. The staff just apologised and told us to order off the Greek menu.
This was disappointing but understandable, until the table next to us received a pork knuckle and a sausage platter (both of which were supposedly unavailable). When we asked the staff, they avoided our questions and just told us to order from the Greek menu.
At this point we should have left, but we were hungry and decided to stay. We ordered lamb and chicken dishes, and to top off the night, the chicken came out raw on the inside (photo evidence provided).
When you're paying ~$50 a person, the disappointment and hassle wasn't worth it. The staff and owner didn't seem to care at all, the staff just brushed off our questions and the owner seemed to avoid us. We'll be looking for another place to enjoy some...
Read moreBoth my partner and I went there for dinner. We had to wait 40 minutes for our pork knuckle, apparently prep time as they start from scratch. When our dish arrived, it was dry, pork knuckle looked as it it was reheated, hard and tasteless. Sourkraut wasn't anything to shout about and similar to the potato salad. It was all blend. At the same time, there was a choir going on adjacent the restaurant and as we were still having our drinks, we decided to just pop in to have a look at the choir. To our surprise, we had a lady (probably the restaurant manager), who actually came up to us and said, and mind you, we were just adjacent to see the choir and passed a remark saying "please make sure you pay your bill" and my husband and I were flabbergasted at that rude remark. With that said, my husband went over to make payment and again, reviewing the bill carefully, he was double charged for beers when he had, prior to dinner, ordered beers and paid cash for it. He highlighted this matter and the bar girl cooly said, oh.. We will fix the bill immediately!! This was the same bar girl that collected cash for the drinks earlier. I must say this though, our bill was o ky AUD56 and to get a lady to come up to us and speak such rude words is unfathomable. I guess, that's why they work at places like this as apparently, they are shallow minded and may have done something like that when they went out. I am appalled and would never return to this place as it used to have quite good food and good customer service. A German Club should have prestige and should train their...
Read more3 of us went to German Arms Tivoli last night. We rang to book - ok. We waited over an hr for first course, 3/4 for our coffee (for which we asked for a refund) and left. The streusel/ice cream were lovely. The table next to us waited 1.15hrs for their meal, which, when it came, was incorrect. We talked to the Manager and she said “we were trashed” and “could you book earlier next time” to which we responded, very politely “if you didn’t have staff, food or were fully booked why did you put our booking through, and 2ndky… politely we will NOT return. Piano accordion music was wonderful! To the owner: thank you for your reply. Firstly, we did book for three, we were told it would be in an adjacent rooms which was fine. We had rung other restaurants and were informed they were full… if we had been told you were full of course we would have gone elsewhere! We have always enjoyed The German Club…. We actually eat out much and enjoy good food and are trying our best to give as much support to the industry as we can.. so if you were unable to cope with the volume it would have been more appreciated if you said we’re were booked out… and we would have been thrilled for you. WE WERE NOT WALK-Ins… we would not ever do that to restaurants where music and fine...
