Edit following restaurant's response I remember the conversation clearly, and at no point were we offered a refund or discount. As others have noted in their reviews, I find it very strange that two 5 star reviews appeared almost instantly after I left my bad review - clearly fake to keep their rating up.
Absolutely terrible!
Used First Table for the first time to visit this restaurant (meant to be a 50% discount) for my partner’s birthday. Had the five course banquet ($95pp), but the owner/waiter failed to tell us when we ordered that this was excluded from the First Table offer.
Food came out so fast that we were finished within just over half an hour. Everything was obviously pre-made and reheated/microwaved. Soup wasn’t very hot, and the lamb shoulder was served with what was clearly frozen broccoli and carrots! Not to mention that several of the dishes were served on kitchen paper towel…
When we came to pay and queried the fact that nothing was discounted, he just showed us the fine print from First Table. Given that drinks are not included in First Table offer, this means we paid a $10 fee for a full price meal!
I appreciate the conditions are set out in the booking confirmation (including several standalone dishes which are excluded), but I don’t think it’s reasonable to have to memorise them or cross reference the email when you order.
Felt like such a scam, especially since the food (half price or not) was very average. I question now whether the reviews of this place are legitimate or not. Certainly...
Read moreWe had the absolute pleasure of dining at this charming little French restaurant, and it was one of the most memorable meals we’ve had in a long time. The atmosphere is warm and intimate — the kind of place that instantly makes you feel at home — but what truly sets it apart is the heart and soul behind it: Chef Maggie.
Maggie is not only a talented chef, but a genuinely caring and gracious host. You can feel her passion in every detail — from the thoughtfully prepared dishes to the personal attention she gives to her guests. It’s rare to find someone who cooks with both technical skill and such obvious love.
The menu was beautifully crafted, with classic French flavors and a few unique touches that made it feel personal. Every dish we tried was outstanding, especially the [insert favorite dish, if you’d like], which we’re still dreaming about. Even the smallest touches — the bread, the sauces, the plating — were exceptional.
This is the kind of restaurant you don’t just eat at; you remember. It’s more than a meal — it’s an experience, thanks to Maggie’s warmth, talent, and hospitality.
We’re already looking forward to returning and recommending it to anyone who appreciates authentic, heartfelt...
Read moreAte here with the Family, Food was very good. I’d say 7.5 out of 10 overall. For starters we had the mozzarella cigars, pan fried calamari and the prawns. The calamari was excellent. Prawns were very tasty and the mozzarella cigars were pretty good although the pastry was a bit chewy. For mains we had the slow cooked lamb shoulder, the lamb cutlets a Scotch fillet steak. Both lamb dishes were great. The scotch fillet steak was quite thin and more of a porterhouse. Unfortunately it definitely wasn’t medium rare, more well done. Tasted good and the peppercorn sauce helped. We had one each of the desserts. The cheesecake was sold as a sort of creme brûlée but I’d say more like a rice or tapioca pudding consistency. Missed the flavour opportunities as I was expecting cinnamon, vanilla, cloves… it was just a bit bland. The tiramisu lacked coffee as it was mostly mascarpone. We all said we should have just got the chocolate mousse.
Including alcohol, the price was reasonable. Service was excellent and attentive without being intrusive.
Supportive of local business and I hope this restaurant option sticks around… improve the steak, refine the desserts and I reckon you’re on...
