A quick peruse of the menu had me interested in soo many pizzas. Luckily when it came time to order mains I managed to persuade a couple of others to share four pizzas between us #variety. Upon arrival I was pretty impressed with the set up and friendly staff. I had also noted an impressive array of shakes on offer and swiftly ordered the peanut butter jelly.
This was super yummy but if alcohol is more your thing I also tried a couple of delicious cocktails which went down a treat with our amazing 1.2m antipasto platter. This was a great way to sample a variety of dishes including the garlic bread, calamari and arancini. There were also meats, olives and dips- delish. I was loving the bruschetta too which was topped with a generous amount of cheese.
Then the pizzas arrived and we opted for four from the gourmet range; chicken satay, cheese lovers, chicken tandoori and kebab. I was hard pressed to pick a favourite and simply adored the thick base. It made a nice change from the proliferation of thin and crispy that has flooded the Melbourne dining scene. The kebab pizza is an ingenious idea and quite frankly I can’t even believe no one has thought to do this before. It’s basically combining two of life’s greats in one tasty mouthful. The cheese I had assumed would have a white base but the tomato base basically made it a pimped up margarita. The feta was great on this as it gave it the addition of something salty. Tandoori pizzas I’ve had before but not with mango chutney so this was a great rendition for me. Satay I also enjoyed although that tended to be the rest of the groups least favourite. It had a good balance of sweet with a kick for me. A few chips stolen off someone’s parma plate and I was ready for dessert (truly great chips by the way).
We ordered mini donuts drizzled with Nutella as well as the Nutella berry pizza and chocolate banana pizza. These are a visual sensation and a great sweet way to...
Read moreFantastic parmas and steaks! I'm not a fan of their pizza but their steaks are perfect and their parmas are too. Also the fishermans basket is super filling and awesome.
Their steaks are HUGE, well worth the cost, and the sauces with them are awesome too. I love the mushroom gravy, pictured, which tastes great! I find the pepper sauce is a little bit sweet for me but it's still very nice :D.
Their salads are ALWAYS crisp and really great. I normally don't like dressing but I really like theirs. It's so good to find a place that takes pride in their salads, I can leave it in the fridge and eat it the next day no worries at all. Beautiful.
Their parmas are also beautifully done, nice and big, with a great helping of chips. If you're into mash they make some really nice mash (just ask on ordering for substitution) and they have beautiful vegetables that have a little seasoning or cheese flakes on them, I'm not sure what it is but it's really good (I really don't like cheese sauce or anything but this seasoning is great!)
They're also super nice. If I have EVER had a problem they are very friendly and helpful. They also go above and beyond with my insanely annoying requests to have butter and garlic on my steak and remove tomato from the salad. I can't say how much I appreciate having this place near me and delivering. It's...
Read moreWhile the rest of Yarraville seems to have embraced its modern status as an inner-city vegie haunt, Godfather’s pledges staunch loyalty to the suburbs – resembling a typical residential corner pizzeria outside and in.
This joint offers all the classics – margherita, Hawaiian, meat lovers and co – but is famed for its stunning range of gourmet pizzas.
Godfather’s Sujuk pizza is unconventional – with sujuk, capsicum, spring onion and olives presenting a brave hybrid between a Turkish pide and a traditional pizza. It hits the spot regardless – offering bite in terms of both crispiness and the mild aftershock after nibbling into the sausage.
The portions are especially generous, with a ‘small’ pizza likely to sate even the largest of appetites.
Certainly not least of all, a side of chips is worth serious consideration – golden, immaculately crispy, and spilling centimetres over the brim of a deep bowl:...
