A Morning Full of Surprises: Coffee and Crunch It was one of those lovely mornings where the sun is shining, and your taste buds are begging for a good coffee. So off my friend and I went, ending up at Gourmet Girl café.
At first glance, I wasnât convinced. The only table inside was reserved, and the outside area looked like a flash mob had decided to brunch there. It was packed to overflowing!
But something told us to hang in there. We waited, helped clear a table that just became vacant, and settled in for what turned out to be a cracking good experience.
At first, I was puzzled. Why is this place so busy? Just up the road, another venue sat emptyâlater discovered to be a wine bar, not a cafĂ©. Mystery solved.
We placed our orders. Despite it being technically âbreakfast time,â I went rogue and chose the lunch special. Perhaps seeing wine at the next table influenced meâwho knows?
Let me tell you, patience is a virtue at a popular café, but it was so worth it. My cappuccino arrived in a glorious mug, topped with perfect crÚme and a creamy foam cap like a caffeine crown. One sip and I was sold.
Then came the Caesar salad with grilled chicken⊠and wow. It was a masterpiece. Crisp cos lettuce, bacon bits, crunchy croutons, a regal poached egg on top, generous shavings of Parmesan, and even a sneaky anchovy hiding under the sauce.
Huge portion, big flavour. No need to be jealous of the neighbouring eggs Benedict â though that also looked divine. Looking around, the place was buzzingâeveryone was happily sipping, munching, and chatting. Young, old, couples, friends, solo sippersâit was a feast of people and plates. Bonus points for the outdoor heat globe like a silent hero, ready to warm the winter chill.
In short: Gourmet Girl nails the café game. Great food, great service, and clearly a crowd favourite for a reason.
Would I go back? You bet.
Would I recommend it? Absolutelyâgo...
Read morethe girls working tried their hardest to provide the best service they could but they didnât seem able to make do with the staffing situation they had going on and as a result it felt inattentive and slow at times. coming off the back of a lunch rush they said that theyâre couldnât clear off tables because the kitchen had no space for the dishes,,,what ??????? for a cafe that boasts such a large seating area both indoors and outdoors this is insane, having worked in hospitality for almost 4 years now thatâs crazy. itâs inappropriate to leave dishes literally stacked up on tables in front of customers like that, there is nearly always an alternative solution. the menu was ok, it had some gems but was fairly unimaginative and had essentially the same options as majority of the other cafes iâve visited in the area and it needs an update. we also got our drinks after our food which wasnât great either and they didnât seem to be managing the making of drinks efficiently from where we were, coffees were coming out very slowly with very...

No olive oil, no balsamic vinegar, no garlic, no flavour whatsoever. Told the waitress to please not charge me for it because it was disgusting and I could not bring myself to eat it. Waitress then came and told me that I was being rude for voicing my opinion. I told her it wasn't her fault, but the chefs, she still proceeded to tell me I was rude for telling her I couldn't eat it. I usually wouldn't voice my opinion on the food but because my friend was paying for me at the time, I really didn't want her to pay for something I couldn't eat that was barely made well. Waitress telling me I was rude was just...
