To my surprise the One bedroom hotel room didn’t have a kettle or toaster let alone a stove.. bathroom needs a good clean and when I asked for my bedsheets to be replaced I was told I could pick fresh ones up from the from office.. some positives are the heater works very well, the have a hair dryer, an iron, room safe and bar fridge plus the facility has an indoor pool, not the biggest bit unless you want to do laps and are just happy with jumping in to cool off then the pool they have should be good enough, just don’t have to many high expectations. Just to be clear your laps in the pool at Best western Plus the Tudor box hill would be very short seeing as you most likely would be able to touch each side of the pool at the same time if you are an average fully grown adult.. also during the time spent there I have only seen adults. I haven’t seen one kids or even heard any children at all. At night it’s usually pretty quiet but with the severely undersized television to entertain you you may as well just be listening to a radio that is unless you like sitting at the end of you bed, squinting close to the screen just to be able to make out what it’s displaying.. having a bus stop right out the front is convenient although if you choose to walk it’s a considerable 20/25 minutes walk from Boxhill central/ train station. Might not be in the best location to walk anywhere decent (which could play a factor of how little noise is heard during the night) the amount of rooms available is impressive and can’t see them ever being without a vacancy so if you are wanting looking to book a last minute stay over along with being happy to stay in something I can only compare to what I’d expect to be a single person University/college lodging or dorm accommodation then give this place a go.. as previously mentioned the rooms are small Albeit they have been able to squeeze in a double bed chair tiny wardrobe, room safe, awning board small TV with a shelving table and a shower into bath tub with a single basin that should be enough (incase you are a couple)
And with signage that read “Non smoking room” that you cannot miss as you walk into the room i imagine, however without being able to clarify for sure , they offer smoking and non smoking rooms. Otherwise wouldn’t it just be a given that all rooms are non smoking? And have no need to make signs for each room (if all rooms are the same as the one I stayed in) sorry for the bible length of a review, I just kept thinking of other additional information that could be of use...
Read moreWe stayed at a 1 bedroom apartment for 5 nights. These are situated across and down the road from the motel. (1098 Whitehorse Rd-Service Rd) Be aware of this if you book an apartment, as it's a 4 lane, relatively busy, road to cross. There is a set of lights within walking distance if needed.
We were in appt 104 and it was very nice, however, it did look out to the neighbouring high-rise, so it doesn't have any views.
The kitchen doesn't have a lot in regards to cooking dishes/crockery/glasses etc., but does have a microwave, dishwasher and of course a full-size fridge.
It's a great sized appt, very comfortable and quiet. Has a built-in wardrobe to use in the bedroom, and a bonus was the washing machine and dryer in the bathroom - including washing powder. Brilliant!
The only negative was there wasn't any soap left for us to use for when we arrived. For any top-up of supplies e.g toilet paper, you'll need to ask for this back at the motel reception, as the appts are not serviced. There is a lift for access, however signs state that it's a 2 person limit, so we opted to use the stair well most times! The car park is tight but secure and well lit, which was great.
Do yourself a favour and eat a meal at the Red Spoon Cafe down the road-at the very least, enjoy a delicious coffee, or hot chocolate! Yum! It's also an easy walk to all the various eateries at the Box Hill Central area.
As to the hotel rooms, we were attending a convention at the motel and the attendees staying at the actual motel, were not impressed. The consensus was that they were old, tired and not very clean. One of the guests booked a room that included a microwave but there wasn't one in their room. There was also mobility issues for a few guests when they were allocated a room with stairs to get up to the bedroom (2 story room). I guess just be aware to ask questions, so get don't get caught, if this is something you have issues with.
Staff were friendly enough and we had no issues booking in late at night. We were told to be careful with the access cards, as they can lose their programming if placed beside mobile phones.
Overall, if you're staying for longer than a night, or if you want more room, book...
Read moreThis best western (the Tudor) has had a great name along the years and is recomended as the best hotel in Boxhill Melbourne! I have to say I was very disappointed by it and I don't agree on it being the best at all! there were a few things I wasn't happy about! On a good note the place looks lovely from the outside and it does offer quite a nice well landscaped tropical quiet style outside sitting area and fresh greenery display! This is really the only good Things I can say about this best western! It really was a bad western unfortionitally. Firstly when I arrived at the reception I was asked to pay a bond on my room (this is fine lots of places do this) but because I was paying cash my bond doubled in price and I had to pay it or I wouldn't get the room this actually shocked me money is money being asked to pay more because card details wernt on a file was a bit rude so for a very very avarage room with boring decor and wifi hicccups as well as Netflix not working I had to falk 320 bucks over for the one night! I was lucky I even had it because there was no warning of of them being able to double the bond!! (I got it back in the morning ) but having that extra cash on you isn't always the case I was just able to pay not even a dollar left in my perse because of this it left me with no money to buy myself anything while I stayed( I was so hungry) The major let down about this best western in Boxhill was I payed good money to stay somewhere half decent and I kept being letdown, asking the staff if I could use the pool facility's the woman in charge of the place was reluctant to let me use them! Well as I entered the indoor pool facility I instently Felt freezing the pool and spa had not had the heaters tuned on so they were both ice cold!! The sauna was also turned of and would have taken a few hours to heat up we couldn't use any of the facilities that make this best western great it was such a letdown so because in my room I had wifi and Netflix problems I payed a huge amount of cash for seriously just a night in an average bed and...
