We heard about a new Mexican place in Abbotsford and were very excited to try as there are not many Mexican options in the area and it's one of our favs.
As we arrived there was only one other couple in the restaurant but we decided to still go in.
The owner was really friendly, he offered us a margarita ($18) and I was very glad to accept while my partner chose a Mexican beer. No margarita mix here he shook up all the premium ingredients himself and it was exactly what you expect a decent margarita to be. I expected it to be more expensive so was pleasantly surprised when I got the bill. Especially because cocktails are between $22 -$28 these days.
To start we ordered the nachos but the owner recommended the Chilaquiles instead ($13). They said "Hey you can have nachos anywhere why not try these instead." We are so happy he recommended these they were delicious, enough to share as a starter. I was worried that the tortillas chips would be too soggy for my taste but not the case at all. This is one we would order again no problem.
For mains we went for just tacos: Birra - beef with a dipping sauce. 2 for $17 Pastor - pork with pineapple 2 for $16 Pollo - chicken $8 each we ordered two Lengua - tongue $10 each we ordered one. All of the tacos were delicious and substantially stuffed. I personally thanked the chef for the Lengua. It's not a menu item you see often and I was excited to see it. With the pickles it was perfection. As a main 3 for me and 4 for my partner was enough. But I must say they were so delicious I could have been greedy and ordered more.
There are other menu items for those not wanting tacos. Interestingly hot dogs which I may give a try next time.
The atmosphere was good even though it was empty when we went. I wish they had an outdoor section though for the warm Melbourne nights.
For a starter to share, 7 tacos, 2 beers and cocktail our final bill was $110 ($55 each) so on par for what you would pay a dinner in Melbourne.
Really worth a try, they deserve to be much more full then there were on that evening.

Read moreI ordered delivery tonight after seeing the many positive reviews and was really excited to try the food. However, I was massively disappointed when it arrived because of the serving sizes for the cost. My partner & I each got a quesadilla (one with guac, one with sour cream) and we got an order of Elote. Total cost was $60. The Elote was fine and was a full ear of corn. However, the quesadilla was barely enough food to be a starter; for $16, I would have expected it to be at least a bit larger—it was barely bigger than a standard taco. The side of guac was $7.50, also not a cost proportional to the serving size (compared to what other Mexican restaurants in the area offer. Quality was on par, not exceptional for the extra cost). While the food was good, value for money was really poor as both my partner & I were still quite hungry when we finished our meal. This is in comparison to ordering the same amount of food (2x quesadillas and an order of Elote) from other Mexican restaurants in the area with comparable quality. Overall, I’m disappointed with the experience...
Read moreI got a hair in my drink and the staff didn't make themselves responsable for their mistake.
Edit: I noticed that the drink was contaminated at the end. What should I have done? Pretend that it didn't happen because I was about to finish the drink? Instead of thinking of that your customer (who is the reason that your business survive in the first place) tricking you first, you should have simply and immediately apologised and the situation would have been de-escalated. What you did instead was disregarding my complaint and asking me if I wanted something "else". Having a business is easy but surviving for a long time is not. With all those capital latter's you wrote, you are doom to close doors very soon. Sad (or not) but true.
Edit 2: The way that I was offered refund was hustling tens of minutes and hearing these words at the end "Okay, if what you want is money, I'll give you your money back". Of course I refused the offer and left. Because obviously you need 10 bucks more than you need a...
