Such a disappointment. I came here for my birthday and left underwhelmed and still hungry. The plus side! We got a 40% discount - it certainly wasnât worth full price!
The rice paper rolls were dry as if they had been made hours ago, the spring rolls were bland without the sauce and herbs. The vegan curry had 2 sad, lonely, tiny cubes of tofu with the veg and was only $1 cheaper than an entire plate of sliced beef. The Singapore noodles had no flavour.
In all, the food was just so incredibly bland. We had to ask for chilli and we had to keep all the dipping sauces to doctor up our meals. In the end I didnât eat it all as it was such a bland beige experience. Plain toast would have had more flavour.
Drinks took forever and I feel they forgot our mains as we had to wait a long time for them to come out. Wait staff did not check in to see if we needed more drinks or wanted dessert.
I wonât be back but I dare say there will be hundreds more bland meals disappointing hundreds more diners who have no choice but to pay for the mediocrity...

We were here for dinner today. We noticed the tightly packed tables when we were assigned our table. In no time, the place was full.
We ordered two starters, two mains and a large portion of rice, along with two drinks. The rice never arrived. We were wanting to reorder our drinks but the staff was way too busy to check on us. It was unpleasant to eat a main by itself - while waiting on rice which is never served!
When we went to pay the bill, we told the staff member that the rice was not served. He took it off the bill - without even properly acknowledging that it was a miss from their end. That was the tipping point for our disappointment.
I really wish they had lesser number of tables where the staff could attend more to customers. They lost out on our second round of drinks and rice. More importantly, they lost out on...
Read moreI understand like everyone, that there is a cost of living crisis. After exactly 20 years of frequenting this restaurant, I have to assume the end of Tran Tran is near. I paid $200 for three people to have dinner. The food was ok. The staff were ok. The atmosphere is far from what it used to be. The prices were way beyond what any regular would expect from a Richmind icon. As we walked down victoria Street many other restaurants were packed so I was glad I'd booked at Tran Tran. But to arrive to an almost empty restaurant I now understand other locals have moved on, maybe due to the lack of atmosphere or maybe because these prices are now rediculois. Why qould i walk through these doors again? How will Tran Tran ever win the Richmond locals back? Maybe they won't and Tran Tran chicken will be a menu option for the memory bank that we'll talk about fondly reminscing on previous managent...
