A couple of years ago, I found myself in search of a place in the area where I could indulge in a delicious burger accompanied by a satisfying cup of coffee. While a café often comes to mind in such situations, I longed for an establishment more focused on serving exceptional burgers before offering a delightful coffee experience. After some years had passed, I randomly stumbled upon a newly opened place called Hamilton's Coffee.Burgers.Fried Chicken and decided to give it a try.
Tucked away at the end of Hamilton street, Hamilton's Coffee Burgers stands out as a cozy and intimate spot. It lacks indoor seating, which may have been present in the past, and its outdoor area is not exclusively dedicated to the establishment. Nonetheless, the passionate couple behind Hamilton's manages the place with enthusiasm. As I perused the menu, I noticed a carefully curated selection of burgers, each creatively named.
In a time when many establishments prioritize elaborate garnishes and excessive combinations of different infusions, flavoured oils, etc., Hamilton's stays true to the quality and simplicity, offering unpretentious and straightforward options.
When my order arrived, I was immediately struck by the elegance of the burgers. The buns were fresh and soft, beautifully embracing the juicy Angus beef patty in my burger. Cooked to perfection, the patty oozed with flavor, satisfying my craving for a hearty and succulent burger. My partner opted for the Cajun Spiced chicken burger, which proved to be a delightful choice as well. Alongside our burgers, we tried a side of crunchy chips seasoned with a hint of herbs—a simple yet delightful addition to our meal.
What began as a one-time visit to Hamilton's quickly transformed into a regular experience for us. We have since explored other items on the menu, finding joy in discovering new flavors and engaging in pleasant conversations with the passionate owners. Despite Melbourne's often cold and gloomy weather, we gladly brave the elements to sit outside at Hamilton's, knowing that the exceptional food served there will warm our souls and bring smiles to our faces. Hamilton's Coffee Burgers has truly become a place where we find comfort, contentment, and a genuine appreciation for the simplicity of good...
Read moreI visited this place on a mild, sunny morning and found it to be both well patronised (more than holding its own against the rather soulless, though appropriately named 'Churchill Cafe', next door) and under staffed. The husband/wife team (of which the XX appears to have significant charisma) toiled earnestly to meet the demand but I experienced the slowest delivery for quite a while. As I sat at my budget chair and table, wondering where to place my legs, I reflected that 80% of the seating (all outdoors) would have been exposed to the elements on a rainy day. Out of a nearby speaker was what appeared to be an album of some female artist butchering past hits. Turning to the food, I found the croissant (served in a paper bag) to have an adequate texture and serviceable taste. It was not something I would not go out of my way for, however, especially given the availability of cheaper or superior ones at Union Road, not far west. The long black was watery and most uninspiring, furthermore, and was served in a paper cup. If the music wasn't bad enough, my experience was further exacerbated by the presence of a noisy small dog, seated at a nearby table, being treated by its owner (obviously fishing for doggy compliments from passing pedestrians) much as a...
Read moreI've been coming here for a few months now and I have far too many good things to say about this place.
Hamilton's is run by truly wonderful people who genuinely care about the quality of the food and coffee. They use better quality ingredients than are necessary and take a little extra time cooking them to get everything just right.
Choon and Edwin are always happy to chat with you and have created the perfect trifecta of A+ coffee, fried chicken, and burgers. They have absolutely spoiled my partner whenever she's been there and we will continue coming as along as we're anywhere near Melbourne.
It was a little shocking to find the best burgers AND the best fried chicken we've had in our combined 8 years in Melbourne, and at what we first thought was a little corner café!
If you have the chance to sit down and enjoy the music, a coffee or something more, please support this absolute gem of a...
