Heartbreaker — Restaurant in Melbourne

Yes great, actually killer tunes but that's about it. Our group comprising of 23 yr to 50 yr olds have never witnessed such utter pretentiousness. Our friend was 'escorted' from the premises under the guise that he was "drunk!" He did not interact with any other patron, just us, nor was he a nuisance to another soul. His crime? Not young enough, not fashionable enough, not fitting with the gotta be-hipster-mould! Gee whiz; if at least 85% peeps there weren't intoxicated; I'd be questioning the efficiency of the supposed amazing bar staff! I've written one other review in my life & felt so strongly (as did us all) about this injustice that I bothered to review. My partner (his boss) gave you his good hard-earned money (which was ok for u to take from our party of 12.) The female staffer employed with said task could only offer the "reasoning" as "he was drunk!" How absurd! That's all she could say. In fact; that's all she 'could' say! Smart move guys! My man paid the due bill & we left. Within minutes of our departure, a bevvy of rambunctious, 'clearly wired' ; pretty 20 somethings were shown the red carpet to the belly of this cauldron. Ahhhh; just what you like there! Nothing against them whatsoever; your establishment reeks of discrimination; nothing short of. Let me guess; 3.30pm-6.30pm we'll take anyone's cashola! Hope those young' uns got Daddy's credit card! Do not reply with some rubbish excuse for your creed. You are what you are! See ya...

Saturday night 26/6/2021. My friend has her birthday, so she decides to take us to one of her favourite bars. Due to Covid, the bar doesn't take any bookings so we have to walk in as the vast majority of the city bars nowadays.

Unfortunately, our experience was disgusting. The “manager” decided that we should not sit altogether as we were a group of 10. Instead he decided to sit us in 3 different tables across the shop. A birthday party split in a company of 5, 3 and 2 as was the only way to be seated for the time. I was part of the group of 5, next to us was a group of 9 on a same size table. How interesting was that! When they left, we kindly asked if our friends could move to the next table so that we could be altogether and celebrate pur friend’s birthday. The answer that I got from the “manager” was: “mate this is never gonna happen, this is one of the best tables I have”. I said to him again that our friends are split and that we are 10 in total. The answer was “regardless if you like or not, this aint gonna happen”. He was really nice with his arrogance, unprofessionalism, hateful manner and green hat.

I feel blessed that this happened the first time I came to this shop and I didnt spend a single dollar. The 15 mins I lost inside there where good enough, as they gave me the opportunity to know where to NOT spend my time and money next time. I recently went to Heartbreaker Bar with my work crew for staff Christmas party and unfortunately, my experience was overshadowed by a completely unprofessional interaction with one of the security guards. As we tried to enter, the security guard—who had a noticeable bruise over his left eye—lost his temper . He slammed the entrance door and began shouting loudly , explaining that he had "a tough day, and is in a very bad mood” and was tired because " security is a hard job." Even after i calmly said I understand and would leave, he continued shouting, creating a very uncomfortable and unnecessary scene.

While I understand that security work can be demanding, his behavior was completely inappropriate and uncalled for. If the job is that stressful for him, perhaps it might be time to consider a change. That being said, there is no excuse for treating customers this way. His actions were out of line, and he had no right to escalate the situation the way he did, especially when none of us raised our voices or acted disrespectfully. This only added to the tension, but it does not justify the way he handled the situation.

It’s disappointing when an enjoyable night is ruined by such a negative encounter. I would be happy to share the exact time of the incident if management wants to review security footage and address the behavior of...
