Heritage Indian Restaurant — Restaurant in Melbourne

I have been vegetarian my whole life until I ordered at this place, ironically labelled as a 'heritage' Indian restaurant. Instead of humbly accepting the mistake that they sent the wrong dish with meat in it, and assuring me that something like this would not happen with anyone in future, the staff kept justifying and arguing how it got mixed up, and insisted that it was the first time this has ever happened. I feel like my moral ethics got violated, and I'm filled with utter dissapointment. This is how you make everyone lose faith in their own people. Definitely should not name your restaurant after something you guys clearly lack. I have never been in the business of owning a restaurant or running it but it is common knowledge to label dishes when you are sending it out to clients, so you can distinguish between the orders, regardless of their similar look. With all seriousness, if you have employees which are not even remotely smart, you should put more effort in hiring people or perhaps run a different business because clearly it isn't working out. The service here was actually insulting. My group arrived and made an order. An hour later, we'd only been served a single entree. The entire hour we were there, we saw orders constantly coming out of the kitchen, straight into the hands of someone either taking away the order, or an UberEats or other equivalent person.

For an entire hour, only around four or five dishes were actually served to customers inside the store. This wasn't just our group, there were two groups who had arrived before us that still hadn't gotten more than one or two entrees.

Honestly, the food was pretty good. However, the service is absolutely horrendous. Can you imagine waiting over an hour for food, and after asking when you're food is coming, the serving staff only says that they're busy, when there are exactly four groups totalling to under 15 customers in the store, when they have clearly just been prioritising takeaway and online orders?

There was clearly not a queue, as I observed several people coming in and ordering on the spot for takeaway, and they received their food and left, before we even saw a...

We've been getting takeaway from here for over 10 years, and the main reason we keep coming back is the consistently high quality. It doesn't matter if they're having a super busy day, what I order tastes exactly the same every single time.

I never get half cooked meat mixed with tender meat in my curry, the saffron rice is almost completely yellow, if I ask for a very hot curry it is actually very hot, the papadums are perfectly light and crispy, the flavours are always on point (love the Vindaloo, Rogan Josh and Lamb Saag), and they are great with accommodating dietary requirements. We've had at least one of the above problems with every other Indian restaurant we've tried in the surrounding area of Heidelberg, Ivanhoe and Rosanna, and it's disappointing every time.
