We are table of 5, first time dining here to celebrate my in-law's birthday. We were warmly welcomed by the friendly wait staff, who seated us promptly and allowed us ample time to peruse the menu without feeling rushed. Though not overly spacious, the restaurant offers a cozy ambience without feeling cramped.
Our meal began with a delightful starter of Combination Spring Rolls. For the mains, we shared the Crispy Lemongrass Chicken, Sizzling Diced Beef Garlic and Pepper, Chinese Broccoli with Oyster Sauce, Spare Ribs with Peking Sauce, Special Fried Rice, and Singapore Noodles. Each dish was good, particularly the Singapore Noodles and Special Fried Rice. The BBQ pork in these dishes had the distinct Southeast Asian flavour we hoped for – delicious! There were a couple of minor points for improvement, though. The Sizzling Diced Beef, although flavourful, was a bit too salty and overly tender for our liking. Similarly, the Crispy Lemongrass Chicken could use a stronger lemongrass flavour, and the chicken itself had a bit too much flour coating. A meatier version would have been perfect.
The staff checked in throughout our meal to ensure everything was to our satisfaction. We also appreciated the personal touch of who we believe to be the owner coming by post-dining to chat with us and ensure we were well taken care of.
Our total bill was approximately $167, including one red wine, two fresh lemon juices, and a canned drink. We found the price to be fair and reasonable, given the quality of the food and the service provided.
Overall, we had an enjoyable dining experience and will return in the...
Read moreOrdered the beef pho and rice paper rolls as I had to meet the $25 minimum for eftpos (bit high for my liking). The waiter was polite, well mannered and efficient. The rice paper rolls were the smallest I'd seen but had really good flavour. Unfortunately the dipping sauce was really lacking not only in flavour but consistency as it was slightly runny. The pho arrived and the broth was really tasty with great depth of flavour (didn't leave you thirsty) and left you wanting more. The meat was few and far between but what was there was tender and tasty. The noodles were perfect soft, and chewy and the meal was presented well. Unfortunately the size of the bowl was tiny, especially for the price and the sauces come in a bowl all mixed together and are not there for you to help yourself on the table. As I love the broth I will be back, but be aware you will need to order a couple of things if you want to leave full and or to...
Read moreWhat kind of Vietnamese restaurants have a minimum money to spend per person? I have been to so many good Vietnamese places way better than this place and their pho is cheaper than here and NEVER set a minimum price. I even paid cash here but the owner said I have to spend more than $15! Pho is not even $15. I went there cause I had a hangover so I needed a soup but my partner didn't want to have any as we had ingredients to cook at home. He just wanted to keep my company. She was not happy at all when he was not ordering anything. I understand if it was busy but there was no one in the restaurant. The way she spoke to us was pretty rude. Clearly she has no idea about how to do business or customer service. We would have gone back if she was not rude like that. There are plenty of Vietnamese restaurants. I don't recommend anyone to go here unless you want to order two dish although you...
