Went here with a friend, we both ordered eggs on toast. The waitress was new and thought we wanted to share the eggs on toast and we explained that no, we both wanted to order the same thing. We heard the manager check with her what the order was. When it got to our table we had one egg on toast each. I got up to ask for a menu to check which said eggs on toast but did not specify how many. At the counter we confirmed what the meal was meant to be and it was 2 eggs on toast and we said we only got one egg each. The manager then charged us both $12.50 each for our one egg on toast plus for our coffees. We clarified as we had not got the full meal yet he had charged us full price. If he had have said sorry about that and charged us for what we actually got there would be no issue, but he still put it through at full price knowing we only got half the order. He said we saw the menu and should have said something. It did not specify on the menu which is why we clarified at the counter. We told him we would not be going back there. He got angry and slamed down $2.50 each on the counter and said here have your money back then and got angry at the poor waitress. We went back in to say it was not her fault and as the manager he should have clarified if the order sounded strange or when I asked him for a menu. This behaviour from management is ridiculous. I have never dined there and it is not my responsibility to know your menu. On speaking to other shop workers on the street I have heard that this manager behaves like this often which is a real shame. I don't support cafès with...
Read moreArrived early Monday morning to meet a friend for breakfast. First cappuccino was a late and milky and cold. So was my friends. Told the waitress and she didn't apologise and simply said she would make two more. The two more arrived still without an apology and were only a fraction hotter than the first two but still both too milky. We ate and at no time were the dishes removed from the table so we didn't have any room! The water bottle wasn't even filled up. My friend paid before I could go in and tell them the second round of cappuccinos where terrible as well. They are fortunate that my friend paid because I wouldn't have. Lucky there are Plenty of other options on Puckle Street, Moonee Ponds because I will never go there again nor recommend it to anyone. Also the server looked like she'd rather be anywhere else but doing what she was doing. 1 Star out of 10 because it was open when we arrived. EDIT: We had to get up and go inside to make the order and there was only one able bodied person from the three of us sitting at the table (which kept unbalancing on the uneven pavement) while about nine cars tried to reverse park so close to us that if the chairs weren't moved by us they would...
Read more5 stars on every level. We were warmly greeted as soon as we walked in the door, efficiently seated, watered and received menus within seconds. Orders taken within moments. Our hot drinks and meals were made to perfection and were delivered without delay. The venue was clean, spacious and comfortable. Even the front windows and glass dessert cabinets were spotless, something so many venues strangely overlook. Staff were friendly and efficient too. I cannot recommend this wonderful venue highly enough.
I don't know about everyone else out there, but my experience of customer service since covid, has been abysmal. In every industry we just seem to have lost our passion for delivering good quality customer service. Particularly in hospitality. But Dolce Vita has restored a semblance of hope that maybe not all is lost. I wish every venue out there could take a leaf from their delicious and enjoyable book. Thank you Dolce Vita! We will definitely...
