iCarusi gains one dollar & loses 160 dollars !!! . . . not good business guys !! Was there recently with friends for dinner. We had pizza's, wine, desert & coffee. All nice. All good. Our bill came to $161.00 & upon examination of bill we noticed that they charged us $1 for the chilli oil. (something that has never happened before) Yep, that teaspoon of chilli oil condiment you get everywhere else for free, here they want a buck for it This surcharge does not appear anywhere on the menu nor were we informed of it when we asked for the oil. Now , of course, who cares about a dollar but that's not the point. The point is why would you gouge the customer for something that is provided for free EVERYWHERE ELSE as a part of standard industry practice? I suppose times are tough and costs are rising & if the owners can scab an extra $1 why not . . . . but at what cost guys? You didn't think it through. Did you? Bad business Carusi ! Really!
We usually leave at least a 10% tip. This time we left nothing. We usually go to Carusi every couple of months. No more ! The new iCarusi habit of penny pinching/scabbing has cost them a tip to the staff and has cost them future business. No more $160 for you Carusi. There's many great pizza places in Melbourne & we will be going to those instead.
So customers, when you ask for a teaspoon of chilli oil - - - BEWARE! I wonder if they also charge 20 cents for salt, 35 cents for pepper and 65 cents for coffee sugar ? . . . . with their new business model in play I would not be surprised if they...
Read moreWe went to eat at Carusi often about 11/10 years ago when we were living on Holmes street. The pizza was absolutely amazing. I was born, lived and grow up in Italy until I was 42 years old and I know very well when the pizza is great, and many years ago was great, like in Italy, between the pizza in Rome and Neapolitan pizza.
Unfortunately, we didn’t have a great experience this time. The pizza wasn’t like years ago and was everything but not a traditional Italian pizza. Was flat and heavy. We were very disappointed and sad at the same time and we don’t know why they changed so dramatically the dough.
Regarding the restaurant is cozy like was before but there was a lots of smoke that burned our eyes. The customers service was lovely and tried to accomodate our dietary requirements. Unfortunately, we will not return but it’s a shame.
Regarding the dietary arrangements, we are vegan. They tried to arrange the ingredients for us but obviously, removing the other ingredients and leaving the same price it is no a great things to do to maintain customers. I think in 2025 they...
Read moreLovely pizza, but the young dark haired waitress has an attitude and I actually had to hold back tears. Ordered a pizza and a coke, received the wrong pizza and no coke, mistakes happen I get it, I’m usually the type to not take it to heart or complain. I thought I misread the ingredients and had a slice anyway, it wasn’t until my second slice when I realised it had meat in it and the pizza I ordered was vegetarian. But this waitress then said I ordered the wrong thing and effectively and confidently accused me of lying twice, once about the pizza, once about the coke. She then made me feel so bad for bringing it up that I just sat there and ate what she gave me without reordering. I also had someone with me who confirmed that I had said the correct thing. As someone with multiple allergies I was disappointed with the service and I was lucky that what I had didn’t send me into anaphylactic shock. Absolutely ruined my night. Such a shame that nice pizza was ruined by...
