After a long hiatus, Liberty Brewing Co. are finally back in Australia in a much bigger way than I anticipated!
Liberty is a stalwart member of the NZ craft brewing scene and having them open a taproom in industrial Cheltenham is definitely a welcome addition to all beer lovers around Melbourne.
The taproom is situated in a calm and quiet street with plenty of parking nearby which is very handy indeed. The room opens up to a myriad of antique speakers and televisions looming on display, the bar is constructed upon an old vintage fridge which lends a certain kind of retro diner-like vibe. A few cozy nooks complete with couches and warm lighting are a very nice touch indeed, it lends a intimate quality to the space if that's what you are searching for. The bar staff are all very friendly and keen to have a chat.
Now, let's talk beers.
They are all very solid drops and I've missed having regular access to their Knife Party - American IPA. I opted to try a paddle consisting of their Lager, NZ Pilsner, Yakima Monster - American Pale Ale and the aforementioned Knife Party. They were all delicious and it left me wanting more so I had to have a pot of the Oh Bro - Pale Ale which is also recommended. Growler fills and empty growlers are available for purchase, prices vary on the beers, you can discuss this with the bar manager on duty.
There are wines, bubbles, soft drinks and a small back bar to appease the non-beer drinkers.
I'll be very excited to return with some mates and try out the rest of their wares, in my experience their Darkest Days - Oatmeal Stout is absolutely sublime.
If you're looking for some food, you won't go hungry here either! Currently on offer is amazing Vietnamese cuisine courtesy of The Bahn Mi Girl. My arm was twisted to try the pork bahn mi and it was to die for, the perfect pairing with some great kiwi beers!
Please come in and support Liberty, I can't wait for them to have some of my favourites on tap and takeaways cans...

Good tunes . Great food, they have paired up with a local Vietnamese place and have a great kitchen onsite for some epic fresh food to go with the beer. Let’s not forget the beers they have a wonderful selection of beers with a few solid basic and some interesting...

Beers were well priced and very cold and tasty. Today was 30 something degrees outside, the temperature inside was still very pleasant. Grabbed some Jungle Juice to take away which is yummy. Will be back with friends very...
