Local Hero Singapore Knox — Restaurant in Melbourne

This famous food court Local Hero Singapore Knox store is really like my second home.

I was introduced to my beloved Hainanese Chinese Rice store in Knox by my best Pal.

I absolutely love the foods like my Hainanese Chicken Rice , Katong Laksa, Belly Pork Dry Noodle, Fried Chicken, Taro dessert, Signature Cendol, Kopi O (black coffee) and their new Vegetarian and Non-Vegetarian dishes with yellow rice or steamed rice are getting very popular.

At one stage I was eating 4 days per week including lunch and dinner. Most times, it is chichen cooked in chicken stock with aromatic sesame oil rice cooked in chicken stock for lunch and dinner with their roast chicken and the same aromatic sesame oil rice cooked in chicken stocks.

The chicken rice comes with a delicious cabbage in chicken stock soup and there are 3 complimentary accompaniments like dark soya sauce, finely chopped ginger with aromatic oil sauce and delicious chilli sauce (my favourite) to go with the delicious Hainanese chicken rice, either cooked in chicken stock or roasted.

I have been eating chicken rice for over 56 years and no wonder Malaysia export over 20,000 chicken daily to Singapore for their famous chicken rice.

I love to eat here regularly as sometimes when I am running late, I will ring up to place all my orders so I can eat all my favourite foods just before they close.

When the owner found out I had stage 4 advance lung cancer, and if he does not have to drive to pick up his wife from work, he would sit down and talk to me for 1.5 hours after the store has closed.

If he has to pick up his wife, I will quietly and happily enjoyed all my favourite foods alone.

I am very fortunate that my best Pal introduced me to this place to keep up appetite to fight my cancer. I really enjoy 'my second home foods' and when I am here, I don't have any worry or stress as I know the main meals, side dishes, desserts and drinks will always be consistent and good.

I have introduced several of my friends to this friendly store including my dear friend who is a Japanese Master Chef who has been there 3 times quickly.

I like this place because the owner and staffs are friendly and reliable.

The owner and his wife visited me when I was at a private hospital near rhe city.

They wanted to bring my favourite foods to me but I was not sure it would be allowed but they still visited me when they were busy especially on Saturday.

I strongly recommend Local Hero Knox to everyone and I give it 5 🌟 for consistently delicious foods, friendly owner and staffs and a pleasant environment.

I wish them continuous success so I can go to this store, 'my second home' to eat my favourite foods...

Thought I'd give this joint another's go. Dropping 2 stars down to 1.

The laska was very underwhelming and sad looking with the $4 chicken add on looking like a dish of chicken scraps. Noodles not cooked properly with large clumps, making those parts inedible.

They need to improve significantly and attend to basics and detail. Does not reflect the brand or Michelin star ratings at all. Original review: Just gave 5 stars to the Doncaster arm of the chain. My experience wasn't as pleasant at Knox.

Concur with the other reviews that the rice and 2 dishes is a let down. Very reserved stingy servings of the toppings leaves customers unsatisfied. Especially when it's done slowly in front of you. Other eateries at the Knox Foodcourt with similar rice and dish options were attractively plump and full of food.

The dishes weren't great either. Eggplant was alright. Calamari was not good. Wasn't crispy, was cold and just didn't go down well. The chicken rendang had good flavours. And the spicier chicken was alright.

Tumeric rice was gluggy.

Probably better to stick with the pricier dishes like the chicken rice and laska. Such a shame as there was potential to have a good rice meal with your own dish selections.

Hope the owner listens, as I'm not the only customer with the same experience with tight servings on rice. Seems like a repeated complaint but no change.

Visited Local Hero Singapore Knox with family on Friday evening. We ordered the hainanese chicken rice, nasi lemak fried chicken, laksa fried fish and signature chendol. Food was presented nicely and tasted delicious. Chicken rice was very yummy with tender and juicy chicken. Chicken rice chilli takes this dish up another level! Coconut rice was fragrant and the fried chicken crispy with nice aroma. My daughter thinks it's better than some fried chicken joints😆 Laksa broth with the sambal was spicy and satisfying, having the fried fish on was ok. Might try the original or soft shell crab next time. We had to skip kuehs and shared a chendol for dessert as our bellies were already full from main meal! Chendol had a good balance of coconut milk and brown sugar. Service was great and pretty fast.
