The manager was really rude to my sister. All she asked is about pricing due to removing ingredients and she gave her attitude then insinuated my sister "attacked" her when she merely expressed her opinion and was honest about it. I witnessed this entire thing along with others in this dirty looking cafe. Her attitude towards my family and I, was appalling. No courtesy what so ever. We are residents of Richmond for over 20 years and I definitely won't be encouraging fellow friends, family, or neighbours to go to Lumberjack Cafe in Richmond, only to be disappointed Heads up: I wouldn't ask the manager questions or her cognitive dissonance may flare again and you will be spoken to rudely :/ It seemed as though the owner/manager was at unease and seemed so nervous as if she was having a bad day? Yet made the big mistake of taking it out on her customer :/ Big No! And for what? Asking a question and making an honest point providing feedback on being charged for ingredients that were not on a plate regardless of set pricing? Is rather juvenile - who ever that wretched nerve wreck of a woman was, it's really sad. I definitely won't be returning and am highly disappointed in the low standard, the wait staff is lovely, I just feel so sorry for them that they have such a rude boss/co-worker. That's not how you run a business - by driving customers away leaving them feeling unwelcomed on their way out. What a waste of money yet lesson learned well :) I think some people just need to learn how to keep their shade to themselves, and essentially learn how to handle customer inquiries in the hospitality business. Next time flustered lady, when a customer merely has an inquiry - try not treating them like they just gave you a complaint - know the difference. 'Food...
Read moreBy far, Lumberjack is my favourite café in Melbourne. Friends visiting from interstate love coming here because Irene and the team have so much personality. You don't get that in Sydney!
Never mind the anti-chai signage, they stock and serve the best Prana Chai I've come across, and they have a great range of breakfast, lunch and sweet treat options. And for your pooch, they have snacks for them too.
The bacon and egg roll might look simple from the outside, but once you bite in, it is anything but. Try it and you'll understand. The fritters are a personal lunch favourite, as is the blueberry cake with lemon icing for afternoon tea (divine!).
If you're tossing up options, head to Lumberjack on Bridge...

Despite ordering two each (mind you the second didn’t even make it to the table) the owner came and asked if the group intended to order food. When it was advised coffees were still being waited on but food would not be ordered, she said ‘Are you taking the piss?’ To follow up with ‘We are too busy on a Sunday to just have tables for coffee,’ my best advice would be to take your coffee or food order elsewhere. With a plethora of choices in this location, you can enjoy quality service and just a coffee anywhere else! The swearing, banging, yelling and disregard for customers that came from this kitchen made this all in all an...
