BOUZY ROUGE
Colourful and Tasty
Sometimes you gamble on a restaurant and decide where to go just by playing around on Google. Sometimes it doesn’t work out/ Then other times you come across something like Bouzy Rouge in Richmond.
We wanted a relaxing, colourful night to celebrate a special occasion and we got just that. Bouzy is nothing short of colourful with a vibrant décor that is fascinating everywhere you look.
The welcome was warm and in no time we felt comfortable and relaxed with the team looking after us. They had the answers, they had good suggestions and they looked after us as if we were family.
There were 8 of us so we feasted on a whole range of dishes and I don’t think any dish disappointed. I can’t comment on the meat options but the vegiequarian treats were delicious. The only note I might make is there were a lot of Brussels Sprouts, not my favourite, but these were still tasty.
My favourite was the vegetarian paella served in the traditional Valencian way with a crusty base. I loved it. The forest mushrooms with chestnuts and Meredith’s goat cheese were delicious and I had seconds (possibly thirds). The marinated eggplant with feta, hazelnuts and harissa was perfectly prepared.
The meat and seafood paella and the pork belly both got the thumbs up from others at the table. The sides of patatas bravas and thick-cut chips were treats that were very much enjoyed.
Unsurprisingly, the favourite dessert was the churros with a crème brulee also shared, and I opted for a tasty cheese platter. All were savoured.
Good food, good hosts, cute setting and good company. This is what pub dining should be like.

Read moreI was looking for a venue to celebrate my grandma’s birthday and wanted to try Bouzy Lounge firstly on my own. AMAZING PAELLA!! One of the best ones I’ve tried, and I was in love with decorations and music! The only downside that I found in this place and will prevent me from taking my family to celebrate my grandma’s birthday was the way one of the waiter treated me and it truly made me feel very disappointed with the experience. Upon arriving at 5:45pm, it took awhile for the waiter to notice that I was waiting to be served and as I asked to dine in kindly, the waiter made a comment of “we have a function at 6:30pm,” and this made me feel awkwardly unwelcome to the place, and I felt the need to finish my food at exactly 6:30pm. The annoying thing about it too was when 6:30pm hit the clock there was still plenty of empty tables. I also wanted to have a glass of Shiraz with the Paella but I felt if I asked for a recommendation he would have just been rushing me to order. The waiter or any waiter didn’t even try to check on me if there was anything else I’d like to order like a dessert or atleast bothered to top up my glass of water. Throughout my 15 years of working in hospitality, this would be on my top 5 shocking dreadful customer service. Overall, the food and atmosphere was great however customer service needs a lot more attention and...

The staff are relaxed and welcoming and the place is very LGBTIQ-friendly. The main dining room is a long narrow room with a mix of small table and longer bench seat + table combinations. The noise level is surprisingly low despite the crowds that flock here - probably due to the plush soft fabrics on the chairs and the ceiling mounted sound dampeners that run the whole length of the room. There is an al fresco area at the rear which is even more "Spanish". The menu is quite expansive with a nice balance between the tapas style entrees and the signature main courses. Four of us selected four entrees and the lamb shoulder as our main. That was plenty as the main is quite a large serve. Good selection of cocktails and wine (the espresso martini is particularly good!) We went on a Saturday evening where there are two sittings (early sitting finishes at 8 pm). There is a bar at the front of the dining room as well. People with mobility issues will be fine as it is all on one, even floor with no steps...
