I was so lucky to win a competition with Touchwood. The prize was some great cookies to help with the coronacoaster.
I am really enjoying the Covit references, i.e. "Ive finished netflix" "What day is it?" "I miss you a latte" "Namastay in bed" ... and my personal favorite "Tim in Melbourne" yay hahaha.
When picking up my cookies I grabbed a coffee. My strong skinny latte was perfect, there was some good milk froth, the coffee had a nice earthy flavour and I really liked it.
I am really looking forward to dining in again soon.
Previous review - January 2020. Time flies. Gosh I haven’t been here in almost 4 years wow!! The service from the front of house was really good and we were seated immediately despite this place bursting w ppl.
I started w a great strong almond latte and my partner had a “Summer Spritz” which was espresso, tonic and a twist of lime. Mmnn hahaha. My coffee was was excellent hahaha
Food wise I ordered the Kaiser Fleish Benedict, a Swiss dish w thick cut bacon, lettuce, heirloom tomato, jalapeño relish, 2 perfectly cooked poached eggs, & apple cider hollandaise on sourdough.
This dish was one of the best bennys that I’ve had in such a long time. The eggs were amazing, the thick cut bacon, moorish and the apple cider hollandaise perfect! Wow I’ve missed this kind of cooking.
My partner had the Breakfast Bruschetta w basil pesto, smoked Mozzarella, heirloom tomato, spinach, onion, pomegranate, mixed seeds, & a poached egg on sourdough toast.
This dish was another winner. A much healthier dish than mine, and full of fresh flavours. This was good but personally I had the winning dish hahaha yay!!!
This place was packed and it’s not hard to see why. See you again Touchwood. This place is a must visit.
April 2016 Good food, busy but great service. Nice coffee, and a reasonable place to visit on Bridge road for brunch. They have an outdoor garden section too....
Read moreI am tired. I have been to Kmart with two rowdy and Hangry kids and it was only 9 am in the morning. Desperate to sit and shut kiddies traps, but not desperate enough for terrible food court food in Vic Gardens, I googled what’s there to eat in Richmond. Touchwood popped up like a beacon of hope and although Bridge Road screams “hard to find a park”, I braved the thought of having my kids walked more than five meters and got to Touchwood.
Thank goodness I read the place is quite big, as it’s already starting to get full. I looked at the specials and I could see blueberry buttermilk waffles. I fought hard and resisted, knowing I had to set a good example for my kids and order healthy food. I got a breakfast board with fried eggs (instead of poached) for Hangry Piglet and Hangry Dumpling , and settled on a Nourish Bowl for myself.
Food came fairly quickly (thank goodness because the kids are saying they are hungry in that whingey Voice), and what we got was, AMAZING. The breakfast board consists of two slabs of thick, beautifully cooked bacon, smashed avo w feta, two fried eggs, a small bottle of orange juice and this crazy out of the world museli with yoghurt.
My nourish bowl was even better, it has sweet potato, broccolini, freekah, nuts, edamame, feta - it’s healthy but it’s also super delicious. Hangry Dumpling actually decided he wanted my food instead, that’s how yummy it was.
Service was great as well. I ordered babycinos with no marshmallows or choc powder (continuing the healthy trend) and the coffee man came out and quickly flash the 100s and 1000s at me to make sure I don’t want that either. It shows that they really care about making sure that the customers are happy and I really...
Read moreTouchwood Cafe on Bridge Road seems to be one of those long-standing brunch staples trying to stay modern with a classic Aussie breakfast menu and a touch of Asian influence in a few dishes.
I ordered the Touchwood Breakfast (big breakfast) — came with mushrooms, rosti, bacon, two eggs, and two pieces of haloumi. Flavours were mostly on point, but the haloumi pieces were quite small, and overall the portion size felt a bit underwhelming for the price.
Also added a side of grilled chicken, which was honestly the best part of the meal — cooked perfectly and a generous portion compared to everything else. Definitely recommend adding that if you need some extra protein.
Tried the avocado toast as well — great flavour and presentation, and I actually preferred it to the big breakfast. But again, serving size was on the smaller side for what you pay.
Overall, the quality of ingredients was great, the dishes were well cooked, and it’s a pleasant cafe — but expect premium pricing for fairly modest portions. Would come back, but probably with adjusted expectations on...
