The owner is visibly angry/stressed and treats the staff terribly, we heard him tell them off multiple times for small things. Another diner only had one option of pizza as they couldn’t eat ham, and he also got into an argument with another diner. The gnocchi is homemade but is absolutely disgusting - dense, chewy and heavy, and the sauce looks and tastes no better than from a jar, completely smooth and gluggy, the Gorgonzola one is particularly horrid, doesn’t taste like Gorgonzola and didn’t even have walnuts as stated. It was so bad that I ordered a pizza even though I paid for the bottomless gnocchi. Unfortunately, the pizza was soggy and the cheese was awful. Better than the gnocchi, but it really wasn’t great. The wine list has no wineries or years so it’s obviously cleanskin/cask wine, which is fine for some people I suppose, but it is extremely odd in the inner suburbs in 2022 imo
Response: we saw you arguing with people all night and one of the waiters was visibly uncomfortable and upset, what benefit is it to us to lie about such a thing? I won’t apologise for not enjoying hard chewy gnocchi and soggy pizza lol. It’s not a personal attack, it’s just a criticism and our experience after eating there, that’s what we received. Your ego really shows if when a diner says they received bad food you don’t acknowledge the fact that maybe it was a bad night or simply apologise for the bad experience. I suggest you include the specifics of the wine on the menu then, I think most people would agree that it looks extremely odd to simply write Riesling- Clare Valley if it’s a specific...
Read moreLast week we had the best Italian dinner @stdomenicorichmond where their pizzas, pastas and anti pasto entree everything just made our tastebuds satisfied and content.
What we had:
We started off with an aperol spritz and a limoncello spritz, both were so extremely refreshing to drink.
For an entree, we had the antipasto board with three types of cured meats, rocket, three types of cheese, pickle and biscotti. Everything was so fresh and perfectly balanced in this board. The cured meats were of best quality and so were the cottage cheese, cheddar and blue cheese.
Next we had a seafood pasta, that was immensely flavourful, tasty and so addictive in taste. The light taste of the pasta balanced so well with the perfectly cooked seafood like prawns and mussels. Highly recommended.
Also we had a mushroom pizza with truffle and leg ham. Oh my this one is so perfect for truffle lovers. The thick intense taste of truffle laced with the cheese and the thin crusted pizza is so incredibly yum. This one is definitely a must try.
For sides, we had Italian potatoes, more like thick wedges of potatoes deep fried and laced with herbs, tasted so crispy and delicious.
Also this place has a lovely ambiance and a giant portrait of St. Domenico adorns the wall of the restaurant. The prices of the items are very standard but they do lot of weekly specials as well. So guys checkout this lovely Italian spot @stdomenicorichmond this week with friends of family to have an unforgettable and an awesome...
Read moreWe went for dinner at St Domenico in Richmond, and were thoroughly impressed! The cozy Italian restaurant serves up a truly authentic Italian experience that left us craving for more.
We began with the Antipasti Board, featuring a selection of cured meats, cheeses, olives, and vegetables. Paired this with a refreshing Aperol Spritz and a classic Negroni, setting the tone for a fantastic meal.
Next, we indulged in the Pappardelle Fungui, a dish that did not disappoint. The wide, flat pasta was cooked to perfection, and the rich, earthy flavor of the mushroom truffle sauce was simply divine. The portion was generous, to say the least, although the two of us left no scraps.
We also shared the Salami Pizza, a classic Italian staple that St Domenico has mastered. The crust was crispy and flavorful, topped with a generous helping of spicy salami, melted mozzarella, and a generous amount of olives. But what truly made this pizza stand out was the thoughtful touch of a small bowl of chilli oil on the side, allowing us to drizzle a spicy kick over our pizza to our liking.
Throughout our meal, the service was attentive and friendly, with the staff happy to answer questions and offer recommendations. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, with soft lighting adding to the ambiance.
Price: Moderate $20-$30
Recommended for: Italian food lovers, date nights, family dinners, pizza lovers, pasta lovers
Will we be back? Absolutely! We can’t wait to try more of St Domenico’s...
