Private party on a Saturday night. We booked the whole restaurant for our 50th wedding anniversary party. Initially booked for 41 people, 37 attended. Thierry was very relaxed and easygoing about the final numbers, he only requested this be advised to him one day prior to the party. He also declined to take a deposit. A very reasonable price which included drinks as well was very easily negotiated. All this sounded too good to be true Last-minute dietary requirements presented no problems and my two daughters were able to go there in the afternoon to decorate the restaurant for the party. My wife and I arrived at 6, half an hour before our guests, just in case of any last-minute glitches. On arrival, we were greeted by "front-of-house Kaitlyn who immediately offered us each a glass of wine. The restaurant, which is not very large was brilliantly set up with three long tables easily accommodating the 37 guests, As the guests arrived they were all offered a drink and invited to take a seat when ready. Thierry, Kaitlyn, and the others behind the scenes excelled! A small menu was at every place at the tables offering a choice of three entrees, three main courses and three desserts. We had also negotiated a cake to be provided at the end of the meal. Everything was fabulous.. Every dish was perfect and plentiful. And the anniversary cake, a strawberry mousse cake was excellent as well. At the end of the night, the bill was less than we expected and we even left a tip for Kaitlyn and the others. We've had dinner at Mandoline three times previously as well as one lunch and were very pleased but this dinner was next level. Every single guest commented to me how impressed they were with the food and the service, The party was a great success in no small part due to Thierry and his more than capable staff. We left at 10,30! Monsieur Thierry, Vous étiez...
Read moreA long-term irregular fave eatery for whenever I have to be in the area. I had my fave today from the Lunch Specials menu (see photo for ingredients and pricing). The Crumbed Salmon on a bed of potato mash, green peas and broccoli, with a lovely creamy jus and, to enliven the dish further, a couple of mandarine wedges to bring a touch of sweetness to the acidity, better than the usual lemon. A generous serve and loved the crispy bits of the crumb coating (brings the flavour). Delicious. 10/10. I also tried the Wake Up smoothy consisting of strawberry, blueberry, banana, yogurt and orange juice. Loved its tanginess and, yes, it woke up my senses. Recommend. 10/10. The Lunch Specials menu has two prix fixe, but you can choose whatever you wish, as I did, without being penalised by paying the prices. Great value for money. This is a popular spot for the older generation as there are a couple of retirement villages nearby and the French chef/owner and his daughter welcome the regulars by catching up with them for a chat. A lovely relaxed ambience, encouraging sitting by providing the daily newspapers and other reading matter. Great for groups and those in...
Read moreWent in to the place and was not attended to for a while. Stood in the middle of the place in full view n still not attended to. Walked up to the lady at the cash counter who decided to ignore and continue to do what she was doing for a good 2-3 mins before she even looked up. Not sure of the rating for this place being so high if they treat their customers like this. At the least, an eye contact would be appreciated. Also asked me if I had a booking when I saw a bunch of school going kids who clearly we’re there without a booking! ( middle of a school day, you think they would have made a booking) free tables and they were full so did not want to make the effort of seating us. Not sure why the discrimination. Would not recommend this place. You just lost a potential customer and someone who would bring...
