Their branch in the city has a bit of a reputation for excellent food and ridiculously long queues. It is much easier to get into this Mansae, so we were eager to try.
Meat: 5/5. Wow, after eating the meat at this place I have to go back to all my other Korean BBQ reviews and downgrade them if I gave them 5 stars. The Wagyu is the real deal, it is SO marbled, SO tender, and SO flavourful. The downside is the gas grill, if they had charcoal it would be even better. Banchan: 4/5. You don't get as many banchans as other places (only 4) and what they have is "OK" and not "outstanding". The Kimchee and beansprouts were really good. The pasta salad was a little bit average. It was a bit overcooked. Service: 5/5. They have PLENTY of staff and they are all really friendly. There was a manager lady whose job seemed to be to walk around the restaurant checking that every table was happy. I have never seen service like this in a KBBQ restaurant. Excellent.
Mansae have a lot of stiff competition from all the new KBBQ places around the area, notably Box Hill and Glen Waverley. Their meat is better, the service is better, it is easier to find parking, but they are more expensive. If they stay this way they will be successful for a very long time. I am glad there are so many excellent KBBQ options around here. A few years ago there...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Mansae for an unforgettable Korean BBQ experience, and I must say, it exceeded all my expectations. From the moment I stepped inside, I was greeted with warm hospitality and a vibrant atmosphere that set the stage for an incredible dining adventure.
The highlight of the evening was undoubtedly the top-notch quality of the meat. Every slice of marinated beef, succulent pork belly, and tender chicken was meticulously prepared and cooked to perfection by the staff.
The service at Mansae was exceptional. The staff was attentive, knowledgeable, and eager to assist. They expertly guided us through the menu, explaining the different cuts of meat and offering suggestions to enhance our dining experience. They even took the time to cook the meat for us, ensuring that it was cooked to perfection and allowing us to fully enjoy the social aspect of Korean BBQ.
As for the value for money, Mansae truly delivered. The portion sizes were generous, and the quality of the ingredients was evident in every bite. The pricing was reasonable, considering the high-quality meat and the overall dining experience.

Read moreThe price is not cheap, and there isn't much meat in one serving. The taste of the dishes is ok, and they seem fresh. I'd like to complain about their service though. I had reserved a table at 5:15, I arrived on time and was sitting at the table, waiting for my friends. After about 20 minutes, a waiter came over quite rudely and told me that they had another booking at 6:45! We only had an hour for dining! Then, my friends arrived, we were okay with the time constraint, as an hour is enough time to eat! But when there were still 25 minutes left until 6:45, my child needed to use the restroom. When I returned, my bowl, plate, and chopsticks were all gone, taken away by the waiter. They were clearing the table with disdainful looks on their faces, as if they didn't welcome us and were rushing us to leave! I felt like their servers were overwhelmed with too many customers and didn't mind driving us away! There are hundreds of cheaper and nice Korean food and BBQ restaurants in Melbourne, definitely...
