Went for a family dinner on a Sunday night, disappointing experience.

The corn was cooked well and nicely charred however there was uncooked mozzarella tasting cheese just thrown on the plate? Confusing.

The nachos with chicken were not bad however for the price (over $20) I would have expected a bigger serving size.

The steak fajitas were a disaster, the limp and soggy tortillas with some bland tomatoes and beans, very uninspiring. The steak itself was very tough and chewy. To their credit they did not charge us for the fajitas. The concern I have is that the waitress told us this was not the first time they’ve had the same feedback this weekend. If you know it’s not great why serve it?

The pulled beef enchiladas were very very dry but with some sauce were edible.

Seafood paella was okay, not a fan of the curry powder flavour however this is personal preference. It was cooked properly and the ingredients were okay.

The fish tacos were forgetful. Fried fish in a half warm tortilla with some sauce and the same cheese that came with the corn.

I couldn’t understand that they have a seafood burrito on the menu however when I asked for that’s a burrito bowl that was not possible?

The staff were nice enough however our waiter did not write down any of our order, of which they forgot one of our mains which we had to wait for an extend amount of time.

Overall considering the price and quality of the food I would suggest to anyone living in the Burwood area. Drive a little further down Middlesborough road for a cheaper and better tasting...

Arrived in store at 10am, and ordered at 10:07 a Spanish omelette and another breakfast meal. By 10:27am we still haven’t gotten our food, and there’s only 2 other tables with customers, so I ask the waitress how long our food will take because we’re in a hurry. The food finally comes out at 10:35, and when I dig into the omelette it’s completely runny inside and uncooked. By then we couldn’t afford for them to cook the meal for longer so we asked for a refund so we can be on our way. So I go up to the counter to get it sorted but the waitress comes out with the kitchen docket and goes you guys actually ordered at 10:07 so it hasn’t been 30 minutes and the foods not fully cooked because you kept hurrying the staff….

Uhmmm what??? Sure we could’ve come in store earlier to eat but I do not expect to wait 25 mins for a simple breakfast meal, and you say it’s our fault for hurrying the kitchen staff?? So if we didn’t hurry it up the food would’ve even taken longer?? Seriously what a joke

The staff and manager were also reluctant to give me a full refund, and said that all they could do was a 50% off but even then they were still reluctant. Thank god the owner finally came in in the end and sorted it out but it’s truly such a shame… we liked the food and was excited to support a family business in the local...

I went to @rosamexicano_australia in Burwood Brickwords to try their new summer menu, and I'm so glad I did.

Starting w chagrilled Prawn Tostadas, they were fresh and tasty. What a great entree.

Then I shared a paella w chicken, chorizo, mussels, & scallops cooked w rice, onions, garlic, capsicum, mushrooms, pineapple, curry base sauce & white wine! Phew 😀 this was loaded. And it was amazing! This was an absolute cracker of a dish 👏

For dessert, I shared the Mangonada w churros. This was Mango sorbet w chamoy sauce, churros, and fresh (blue) berries. This was light and fresh, and there was a hint of spice. Yum 😋

And I had to try the Mexican summer cocktail. 🍹 This was tequila, line juice, agave, and proscecco. I could have sipped these all afternoon 🤣

The service was great, really friendly, and welcoming.

And with easy free parking downstairs, this was a winner. I'm definitely coming back.

Thanks...

Rosa Mexicano is part of the Burwood Brickworks shopping centre situated amongst a couple of other restaurants and overlooking a park that is shared with the nearby apartment buildings. We decided to try this place on a Saturday evening as it was convenient for us and glad we were able to book. When we arrived the place was already about two thirds full and was buzzing. We had a nice table up the back. Decor was nice however the hard concrete floors and windows meant it was very loud and difficult to converse with people on your own table over the noise. The menu was similar to what you would expect at most Mexican restaurants. Not too expensive but not inexpensive either... We did find the price of the sangria jug a little on the high side though. Food came out very quickly and the general consensus was that it was good. Certainly not memorable but good.

4.5 stars. A funky, colourful and happy restaurant with delicious sangrias and food. Loved the decor and vibe. Music too. Food was great, lovely flavours in the paella, generous portions of seafood. Well cooked seafood, but mussels on the slightly undercooked side as the shell was difficult to open. Down sides were the saltiness and lack of rice. Another quarter cup of rice would probably have helped balance out the saltiness and made it a top notch 5 star dish. Recommend the agave sangria (cactus). Served with chunks of fresh fruits and flavoursome, I'd be happy to return for drinks only. But would be happy for food too as it was high quality. Was interesting that they served a yummy paella at a Mexican joint, but I won't complain. Excited to have a nice new restaurant with tasty food and drink.
