⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ BEST SUSHI IN MELBOURNE If you’re looking for an unparalleled Japanese dining experience, look no further than Marae Izakaya in Chadstone Mall—this place is on another level! From the moment you walk in, you’re transported to Japan with its authentic ambiance, warm hospitality, and an undeniable passion for perfection in every dish. The sashimi? Absolutely exquisite. Each piece was fresh, buttery, and of the finest quality, practically melting the moment it touched my tongue. But the true standout was the A9 Wagyu—without a doubt, the best I’ve ever had in my life. The marbling was sheer perfection, so rich and tender that I could have eaten it raw. Cooked, it was a dream—silky, juicy, and bursting with deep, umami flavors that left me speechless. What truly sets Marae Izakaya apart is the chef’s dedication to detail and precision. Every dish is crafted with artistry and passion, ensuring an unforgettable culinary journey. The presentation is flawless, the balance of flavors is impeccable, and you can taste the years of expertise in every bite. The Mochi Matcha Ice cream was the best dessert to end such a feast. YUM OMG!! Whether you’re a sashimi lover, a wagyu connoisseur, or just someone who appreciates next-level Japanese cuisine, this is the place to be. Trust me—once you try it, you’ll be counting down the days until your next visit!

I personally went to check this out as it was near the cinemas in a good location and eye catching at the front. The interior looked okay however eveything else was not very good. First, the sushi left on sushi train at 1pm, peak lunch time was very old and not fresh you could tell they had been on the train for a while now. The dishes were super expensive for what you get, a tiny portion of two pieces of sushi that is much smaller than other sushi trains and then the sushi itself was super average and not particularly fresh. I would give it three stars for the sushi and service but take one star off for 2 stars because it is so overrpriced for what it is. Hence I would say its not worth it, the grilled scallops were barely grilled and the tuna and cheese roll was tiny with barely any tuna and more cheese and the chicken teriyaki was tiny. they charge so much for small portions that aren’t even better than other sushi trains that are cheaper. Overall, yes the interior design is okay but thats not even worth the price as you come for the food not the building. Won’t be in a rush to go back at all. Most likely won’t be going there again.

dined here for the first time (& the last). prices are pretty steep for the quality & portion size. ordered a plate of unagi (grilled eel) thru one of the servers & they were served on a black plate ($6.5). saw them again on the sushi train but they were on different plates (premium blue ceramics & I hadnt noticed the price difference of each plate then) so i picked them up, same grilled eel, same garnish, no difference. took one look at the menu & that particular plate I picked up was $9. had to speak to the manager for clarification. she said they were chef’s specials & there were two types of eel - river & sea eel. first of all, the one on the train wasn’t placed in the “chef’s specials” section. second, all the garnish used were the same (spring onion, ginger). so how was i supposed to notice the difference? please pay attention before taking anything from the sushi train!

My husband and I went Marae for lunch yesterday, we ordered certain dishes and asked for well done because I am pregnant. Firstly the dishes arrived 30% cooked, my partner returned them and explained my condition. Shockingly we then saw the blue hair kitchen hand put those dishes back on the train. The thing is, my partner had previously checked the food with his chopsticks before we realized those were under cooked, they were obviously seem to break a little, however the staff still put them back on the train. I took photos in case you think I am lying. Secondly, the food arrived again only 50% cooked. Well, I meant, if the kitchen is unable to provide the dishes we ordered with 100% cooked, staff could have told us and we will definitely order something else. We gave up and my partner ate them all, in the mean time we still see those returned dishes on the train awaiting to be picked up by next customer. You may wonder why we didn't speak up when the blue hair kitchen hand put those returned dishes back on the train, yes of course we did, but I think that's maybe it lack of staff training or low food health and safty hazzar causing this unhygienic act to be seen by us, if we see it once, there may be plenty of times happened in the past and maybe in the future. Please reconsider before you pop in to this restaurant, there are other option if you want sushi in Chadstone. Despite this unpleasant lunch experience, the manager Daniel was attentive and polite. We love his caring and respectful attitude towards what he does to...

We used to come here every time we were in Chadstone and craving for a bit of a good decent sushi and so far it has not disappointed us untill, well, this time.

Went in on a Thursday night at 6pm. Not particularly busy as we were shown to the train right away. Started off with some fried tempura - the tempura was ok but the salad underneath looked like they took it out of an expired salad bag at Coles. They were wilted and sad and disgustingly off-putting. We thought "ok probably just this one". Then another big tempura dish (yeah I know I'm a tempura lover), same things underneath the tempura - a bunch of sad soggy salad that even our bunny wouldn't want anything to do with it.

It was $48.80 with the one percent surcharge included. Not wanting to get the surcharge, we paid by a $50 note. Staff ran through our notes like 10 times before stating that it was not accepted due to their machine not working properly. Either that or we were circulating fake note which was provided straight from a Commbank ATM. Much as I think banking are criminal I don't believe they would circulate fake tenders so I am more inclined to believe that we were forced to pay for one percent extra for something that was not our fault and for a meal we MOST CERTAINLY DID NOT ENJOY.

So yeah, 1 out of 5 for food. Service was good but we weren't there for the overpriced drinks so yeah, 1 out...
