Beware of hidden minimal charges. Practically "invited" out of the restaurant. Intimidated. Humiliated. Not one to overly dramatize but full story below.

Arrived without a booking on a weekday evening. There were a few unoccupied tables. Went in and even asked the waitress again if I may dine in without booking. She happily lead me to a table without a second thought. Sat down, asked for a menu. Knew what I wanted so placed an order quickly. Again the waitress was happy to take my order. Suddenly out of nowhere while I was waiting for my food the manager(?) approached and said intimidatingly I can't dine there. I asked why and he said I have to order a bbq set (which is massive for one person). There wasn't any signs mentioning such nor did the waitress and waiter told me so before or after my ordering. Before anyone reading thinking that I was ordering something tiny and occupying a table: I had originally ordered a stew for one person and dumplings set ($14+$2+$12), and remember 1/3rd of the tables empty. Either way I asked the manager "are you kicking me out?" to which he replied "yes you can't eat here" unless I pay more for an entire bbq which is meant for multiple people. By this point I did not argue at all and left quietly feeling quite humiliated, hungry and in the cold. Never have I ever in my entire life have I been kicked out of a restaurant. Oh well at least now I've got a...

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Michu, and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The moment I walked in, I was greeted with warmth and hospitality, setting the tone for a fantastic meal. The food was absolutely delicious, bursting with flavor and made with fresh, high-quality ingredients. Each dish was expertly prepared and presented with care.

What truly stood out, though, was the impeccable service provided by the staff. They were not only attentive and efficient but also genuinely friendly and welcoming. It's evident that they take pride in ensuring every guest feels valued and well taken care of.

One of the best parts of the dining experience at Michu is the incredible value for money. Despite the top-notch quality of the food and service, the prices are reasonable and provide great bang for your buck. You'll leave feeling satisfied not only with your meal but also with what you got for your money.

Overall, I can't recommend Michu highly enough. Whether you're looking for a casual meal with friends or a special night out, this restaurant exceeds expectations in every way. I'll definitely be returning soon to indulge in more of their tasty dishes and soak up the wonderful ambiance they provide.

I had to come back and revise my review and downgrade it from 5 stars to 4. Once upon a time, about 10 years ago (back when they had the chef with the big yellow Hummer and his girlfriend Bo Young out the front), Michu was a star. While most other Korean BBQ's used gas, Michu used charcoal. They were cheap for the amount of quality food that you got. We loved going there.

But in 2022, there are new Korean BBQ's around. Michu in the meantime, has gotten more expensive, the menu has changed, and they have a new chef who is quite decent but not quite as good as the old one. They still use charcoal, and the front of house staff are as friendly as before. And the rice is still fantastic. But the meat isn't that great.

Don't get me wrong, Michu is still an excellent restaurant, but not quite 5 stars. Why go there when for the same money you could go to the competition in Box Hill which is newer and offers better food?(apart from the horrible parking...

This is probably one of the authentic korean cuisine in Melbourne! I can say this based on what i have in Korea during my trip there. You can taste the real difference between a real korean food and just some korean fusion food. The guy at the front was super nice and friendly as well; it’s a well deserved 5 stars for this place as the food and service all top notch! Even the banchan was really good with a good portion and you can tell they made it by themselves as i was told the banchan is gonna be different every week. Definitely will be back for trying other stuff. Such a wonderful time for me and my tummy!

A new kid on the block since March 2024. Don't let the small crowd fool you. There's good food here. Like seriously good. You know that's true when Korean ahjumas are gossiping at the next table. I'm not sure if it's due to inflation where stews are now going for the high $20s, but it's all sorts of yum. Also had the makguksu which was awesome. Serving size was large and we couldn't finish ours. One thing to note is that they require each patron to order a dish. I will definitely be back with a larger stomach.
