Poppies on Canterbury — Restaurant in Melbourne

I visited after reading all the positive reviews on Google, but unfortunately, I left feeling disappointed. The food didn’t live up to the value I expected for the price. I tried the Veal, Kangaroo, and Mussels. The Veal and Kangaroo were overcooked and tough, and the sauces were bland and lacked variety. The Mussels were okay, but the sauce tasted more like plain tomato sauce than anything special. The Mille Feuille was underwhelming—just three pieces of crispy pastry stacked in a pyramid shape, with a white pastry that didn’t impress.

Had lunch at poppies and I can thoroughly recommend the meals. There were four of us and we all loved our meals. I had chicken and spinach crepes with a creamy sauce. The came with vegetables and house made cottage fries, yum. One of our party had pork belly which comes with a cranberry sauce topped with nuts, it’s my usual order as I can’t resist it and my friend felt the same, absolutely delicious! We were a group of 16 people for a birthday party. They were happy to give us one long table so we could sit together . They allowed BYO wine so we took a couple of bottles. The food and service was really great, we want to go back there soon. The mains food portions were generous without being too much.
