I arrived at the Millers Inn around midnight but the foyer and check in was shut.||||To check in you have to go round the back of the hotel into the suppose it gaming bar. This is a room with a bar and banks of "pokies" (one armed bandits) manned by listless looking customer's who sit there until 5 o'clock in the morning when they're apparently kicked out for four hours until they are allowed back in when it reopens at 9 AM.||||The people who run the bar really do not know much about the hotel, however you can get access to the room and they give you your breakfast in advance. Breakfast comes in the form of a little cardboard box with a continental breakfast that the average airline would be ashamed of. Simply not worth it.||||The rooms themselves are minimally clean and while I was there, the daily cleaning was not really apparent apart from pulling up the bed. They did not even empty the rubbish bins, or clean the coffee cups from the do it yourself coffee in the room. If they had I would've not had the confidence to use the cups without washing them properly myself first. Enough said.||||On the positive side the bed was quite comfortable, and the shower was not bad. However it was one of those showers where the water ended up all over the bathroom floor - no matter how careful you were.||||If you are unfortunate enough to have no alternative but to stay in this establishment, BE AWARE that if you wish to check out before 9 AM in the morning it is not possible. The foyer is only unlocked and manned from 9 o'clock in the morning.|||| I am at a loss to understand why they are offering accommodation at all. Clearly they do not consider their customers as being worthy of receiving any form of basic service! And considering that they charge AU$130 a night, one would have imagined they might have made just a wee effort to look after their customers.||||I write this review a week after staying there in case my opinion might have ||mellowed a little. But...
Read moreFresh modern decor, very pleasant, self-service bread rolls a plus but the dearest senior's hotel meal I've had and not the most enjoyable. I ordered the $12 Seniors Fish Grilled or Fried, opted for battered barramundi with chips and salad. A wholesome good size serving but the salad was 'heavy' consisting of a mass of the same three greens, too much cucumber, hardly any tomato and a ghostly inclusion of finely shredded carrot (if I recall accurately). The chips were the best part of the meal, light crisp and tasty. The fish batter, though beautifully crisp, was sickly, probably due to the choice of oil. The barramundi was the biggest disappointment. The smallest of fillets, the flesh was dry, its darker parts were blacker than what I was familiar with, it smell strong and not fresh, as if it had been refrozen. Additionally, the same day expiry $2 voucher usage was not explained to me. The cost of the meal was $15:50 not $12. Chips were extra. When were chips an extra with pub fish meals? Was the voucher applied? I have no idea. Furthermore, none of the staff seemed interested in paying a courtesy visit to my table at any time during the hour that I was there. Finally, I started feeling sick two hours later, reflux and the urge to go the bathroom. I have a robust digestion, have not felt âcrookâ after a meal for years and that was after one of my own! This one nearly got the better of me though. One Star for the chips, self-serve buns, the good looking bar which I didn't use, the refreshing decor and bathroom memory, the need to leave the meal somewhere. To the Millers Inn, I mean not to offend but to just call...
Read more"Millers has gone down the toilet". Hospitality & good service has gone. What incompetence I recieved on Sunday, when trying to order a simple parma for lunch. The so called manager was not even listening, not taking any notice when I responded to him asking for my order. His mind was elsewhere in the middle of our interaction. It was not busy, no one else was waiting @ the bar to order except me. How unfortunate was I as a senior citizen to get him, who couldn't even keep his mind on the job for 2 seconds on a simple lunch order. So I asked to be served by someone else as he was too caught up in his business, pointing out an order to a single staff member. Then forgot in that 2 seconds my order. No one else was waiting, only me a woman on my own, just dropped in for a treat lunch. A bleach hair young woman came out from the main bar area to his rescue, to argue the point with me on his behalf. Saving him his disgrace. She took my order & money. But her smart mouthing me continued in a grossly angry manner. Like a complete bullying "Narsassisst out of control" & in for a fight. OMG what a "piece of work". Distastefully smart mouthy young woman she was. Fancy having her out the front serving customers. It was distressing & horrifying to be treated in such a manner by such an aggressive young staff woman. I asked for my money back & went elsewhere for my treat lunch. I'm aware that many senior citizens come here on occasions. So please be warned in advance to what you can expect. Especially if you are a...
