Ordered some food from here recently, which got my friend with a nut allergy severely sick that night. called to let the staff know the next day, and advised them to make their nut allergy warnings more obvious, but was told that the menu mentions nuts for the dishes we ordered (i couldn’t see any?) , and that there is a sign in front saying to speak to staff for allergies etc (did not notice this). I’m not sure about others, but unless a sign very clearly says ‘closed’ or is right in front of my face and cannot be missed, it’s easily missed.
perhaps it’s uncultured of us to not know there are nuts in certain south asian dishes, but we just think that they weren’t clear about which ones did on their menu. the person i spoke to over the phone claimed that all their menus (physical and online) all contain the exact same information, and i've just checked now on menulog and their website, and our ordered dishes don't mention nuts at all! she also didn’t sound apologetic and made it seem like it was our fault that we missed their apparently clear signage. sad to say that i won’t be ordering from...
Read moreWe went to Miar on 21st June for a family dinner, but unfortunately, the experience didn’t meet our expectations.
We ordered a few entrées and mains. The entrées were average – I’d rate them around 2 to 3 out of 5. The mains were completely tasteless and lacked flavor.
We had also heard good things about the chur chur naan, so we ordered it – but it turned out to be extremely salty. Even our kids couldn’t eat it because of how overpowering the salt was.
We spent over $400 on food, but sadly, it felt like a complete waste of money given the quality and taste.
One more thing to note: the restaurant doesn’t have an attached washroom. You have to go outside to use the facilities, which is quite inconvenient, especially with kids. At the very least, a washbasin inside the restaurant would have been helpful.
The only positive part of the evening was the staff – they were friendly and attentive, which we appreciated.
Overall, a disappointing visit and not somewhere we’d likely return...
Read moreI went along with my family to have a dinner at Minars yesterday. We were really disappointed with service and food quality. We ordered Veg tandori platter for entree but we are served few cheese cubes, mushroom along with pakoras. Not sure how chef can cook pakoras in tandor.
While we were having our entrees, two groups arrived in the restaurant and they brought bottle of spirits with them. Given it clearly says at their first window that their licence only allows BYO wine. I will submit a complaint to VCGLR about voliation of their liquor licence.
Atmosphere of the restaurant was awful and guys on those tables were very loud and abusive. We ended up taking our mains as take away. There was no garlic on garlic naans and tandori roti was also seemed stale.
Even though we did let the lady at the counter about the atmosphere. She did not acknowledge our concerns and also did not show...
