As I approached the door at about 7.30 am I was somewhat forebodingly met by a staff member who blocked the entrance and asked me whether I wanted a take-away. When I asked her whether there were seats, inside, she begrudgingly answered in the affirmative before stepping aside to allow me in. Taking a seat at the window bench I placed an order for a coffee and plain croissant and was asked to sign in - as a C19 box-checking exercise. Accommodating this I set about reading, struggling though to get my legs properly beneath the reading surface. Five minutes later the waitress returned and announced they did not have plain croissants, despite having informed me, at the point of taking the order, that they did. With this I decided I had had enough and motioned to leave. She left but soon after returned with an assortment of what looked like ‘Danishes’. Feeling a little guilty about leaving behind a prepared coffee I ended up staying and paying almost 9 bucks for a coffee and a stale, cold, chocolate croissant that had the texture of a rock cake. In the quiet pocket of Fitzroy North and only a short walk to Edinburgh Gardens, Mitte offers plenty of dog friendly outdoor tables, where on a nice day you can enjoy the warmth of sun on your face, or find umbrella cover if you so desire. On cooler days, there are cosy inside tables where you can forget about the outside chill and feel as though you’re in a blissful bubble.

The menu, oh the menu 💓 So many delightful options it is difficult to choose; even for a vegans or vegetarians. Quality, hearty, delicious food, that even when full, leaves you wanting more. They also have a convenient cabinet of pastries or toasted sandwiches if you do not wish to sit down.
Parking wise, I’ve never struggled to find one in the vicinity, be it weekday or weekend.
