Nagoya Japanese Restaurant — Restaurant in Melbourne

I don't know if we just came on a bad night or the staff just woke up on the wrong side of the bed that day but the service was terrible.

We waited 30 minutes before we eventually had someone respond and come just to take our drink order. They then took 2 drink orders and stormed off not asking if any of the other 6 people on the table wanted anything. They couldn't care less that we were there and didnt want to take any orders. Then the lady spilled soy sauce on one of the guests.

We were there for a birthday and had brought an Ice cream cake along that they agreed to keep in the freezer. When they brought it out it was still in the Safeway bag and didnt think to put it on a plate... and didnt bring any cutlery or plates for us to actually eat the cake! I don't know how they were expecting us to eat it.

Food itself was ok, but not nearly enough to redeem the ridiculous customer service from people that clearly didnt care at all. If you are looking for a dinner with someone rolling their eyes at you while you try to order a Heineken then this...

Hoping I don't get food poisoning. Fingers crossed. I had to explain at the door that I wanted to "buy food and then leave" that's the only way she understood me ordering take away. I ordered a California roll and a duck hand roll that took over 20 minutes to get. my california roll was loose, meaning everything fell apart the second I touched it. there's no way that was actual shrimp in it because it was like a soft rubber. the rice was terrible, the nori was tough and didn't rip. (no idea how that happens) the service was below substantial, terrible at best. Met a girlfriend at Nagoya last night to catch up over dinner. This Japanese restaurant is very inviting and cozy and you can hear yourself talk. The background music is lovely and sets the perfect ambience. The staff are so friendly and accomodating and the food is beautifully prepared and delicious! We shared the gyoza and prawn and vegetable tempura to start with and we both enjoyed these very much as well as the delightfully tasty sauces they each came with. A perfect combination!
