🔥 Authentic Homestyle Flavors & Must-Try Dishes! 🍽️✨

This restaurant may not be the biggest, but it’s filled with a warm, homey atmosphere. The owner greets customers with a bright smile, the staff moves busily between tables, and the air is filled with the mouthwatering aroma of freshly stir-fried dishes. It’s down-to-earth, comforting, and full of life.

New Dishes to Try! 👇

🌶️ Spicy Peppercorn Chicken – Bone-in tender chicken pieces, perfectly cooked and coated in a rich, numbing spicy sauce. The first bite hits with a mild heat, followed by the fragrant kick of green chili and Sichuan peppercorn, enhancing the savory chicken flavor without overpowering it. Absolutely addictive!

🐷 Xiangxi Crispy Tripe – Crisp, cleanly prepared tripe with no gaminess, bursting with fresh, chewy texture and a bold, spicy kick. Stir-fried with chives, celery, and a house-made sauce, it’s the ultimate rice companion!

Classic Signature Dishes We Loved:

🥔 Braised Pork Ribs with Potatoes – Soft, flavorful potatoes soak up the rich braised sauce, while the ribs are tender and fall-off-the-bone. A comforting, non-spicy option for those who prefer milder flavors.

🐟 Tai’an Fish & Pork Intestines – A must-try for spicy food lovers! The combination of fish fillets and intestines works surprisingly well, with the intestines perfectly cleaned and richly seasoned. The broth is bold, fresh, and packed with spice, layered over a generous portion of veggies—an absolute feast in a bowl!

🥬 Stir-Fried Cabbage with Cured Pork – Simple yet packed with flavor! The cabbage is stir-fried to a crispy, charred perfection, paired with thick-cut smoky cured pork, dried chilies, and a hint of savory soy sauce—pure wok hei goodness.

🐑 Lamb Soup – Generous portion, rich broth, and thinly sliced tender lamb, making it a deeply comforting dish, especially on chilly days.

✨ Steamed Handmade Buns – Soft, fluffy, and slightly wheaty, these taste far superior to store-bought versions. You can tell they’re freshly handmade—the chewy texture and fragrant aroma get better...

I was surprised on the low rating on this restaurant after coming back for two constant weeks. Their dishes are so good to me and great portion. Short preparation time even there are many phone orders and takeaway going on at peak hours. Their dishes are mainly designed for Chinese eating habit which means flavor could be a bit strong or salty if you eat the dish alone. So far I have tried countless restaurants in Melbourne and have been living in other countries as well (mostly before lockdown) and this could be one of my favorites in Melbourne. Today when I called to order, I asked for something that wasn’t listed on the menu and they didn’t let me down. My partner is very picky about Asian food since their food culture is quite strict however he likes the dishes from here very much as well. We are all going back for more weekend takeaway hopefully dinning out in the future since it’s not easy to find somewhere we can both feel satisfied with. If you are open to try Chinese food, go and order once and you will have your own judgement. (I wouldn’t take other people’s extreme complains as consideration since many people don’t accept other food that is different from their cultural flavor, for me, I don’t...

We got here on a busy Tuesday night, saw a lot of people with takeouts. We order Fried pork in scoop(锅包肉) and Spicy pork tripe(湘西脆肚). The pork tripe was surprisingly good, we really enjoyed it. The Fried pork was bit disappointing, it was a bit dry and hard due to the meat was sliced thin and also fried too long in the oil. Service was friendly and caring, I felt welcome to be here. The shop is a small shop I recommend to make a booking to guarantee a table for yourself.

Revisit: The service was fantastic as usual. This time we ordered three dishes, Spicy pork tripe(湘西脆肚), Sichuan chicken in red oil(口水鸡) and Steam pork ribs with pumpkin(南瓜蒸排骨). The pork tripe was as good as the first time we were here. The Chicken was packed with flavour and worked really well with the bamboo shoot and the peanuts as garnishes and the chilli oil was perfect pairing with rice. The pork ribs and pumpkin were steamed to tender and juicy, a great dish for non spicy eaters out there. Price wise i would say its reasonable, it was good potion sizes and quality of the service and the food...

Ray Asian Wok, located in Glen Huntly near Monash University, is a modern Chinese restaurant that offers a variety of dishes without sticking to a specific regional cuisine. Despite the diversity, they seem to excel in every dish they serve. The restaurant has limited seating, but it attracts a good crowd. They have two menus—one is posted on the wall featuring set meals, while the other, a large main menu, must be requested from the owner if you want to order local Chinese food. We ordered the Spicy Chicken in Shandong Style - Strength, Fish Fillet with Pickled Cabbage, Stir-Fried Spicy Pork Tripe, and Shandong-style steamed buns. Each dish was incredibly delicious. The Spicy Chicken was well-marinated with bold flavors, the Fish Fillet was tender and delicate, and the Pork Tripe was crispy and flavorful. Overall, the food was excellent, and we’ll definitely be back to try more dishes.
