Going out for breakfast is always a treat in my book, not today! I dined at the Whyte cafe with a friend for the last time. The staff are nice whilst the menu is dull and doesnât provide value for money. I ordered a loose leaf chai (6$) and the âavocado Benedictâ (21$). I also specified that I wanted the chai strong. I was surprised by how fast the chai was. She told me she put 3 spoons in, I would not consider this extra I also let sit for 5 minutes in my cup. The drink was white and tasted like pure milk. Food wise, the presentation was strange. My girlfriend described her beef Benedict as bland. personally, 1 of my eggs was slightly undercooked which I donât mind but I do mind brown avocado. The ingredients especially the muffin also felt cheap and not fresh. In hind sight I should not have touched it but my hangry emotions got the better of me. I have been to many cafes and worked in hospitality please trust me when I say that there are better cheaper places nearby! I have never left a whole order at the table. After composing myself trying not to cry I felt the need to express my feelings to the staff with the thought they could help me. All I was met with was a 50 cent discount on my chai and half felt words, âwe will talk to the chef, it will be better next time.â Why would I come back? I wanted to leave with a full belly not full of regret. Donât let them take your money, spend it somewhere that cares. Love from a sad disappointed brunch enthusiast. could be good if youâve never had breakfast or if someone...
Read moreWent there a couple of times with a toddler and we got bad looks from the staff. My son wasn't disruptive and there weren't many people there when we went. On one ocasion my son spilt some food on the floor as kids do. It was nothing too crazy, but the waiter had a horrible attitude and said that my son was too messy so we said we'd get the rest of the food to go. The lady slid the packed food on the table and was extremely rude. We couldn't get out of there any quicker and were given bad looks on the way out. When we got home we noticed my salad was still frozen and my son's soup was cold as well. Nothing was fresh and the portions we were given were much smaller than what you get when you dine in. I'm NEVER going back there and would not recommend it. If they don't want kids there they should say so. But just based on the quality of the food we were given, I'd say spend your...
Read moreEnjoyed a delicious flat white in a mug, service was prompt at the table with a smile and chat including water, quiet read of the paper after I completed my tasks in Glen Huntly Road, Glen Huntly. Been back a number of times very conveniently across the road from to Woolworths and the post office after a hard days shopping. Alfresco partly shaded or sunny seating at the front and shaded seating outside at the back of Cafe. There is a step between the cafe and the path to get out the back and also if I member rightly there's a step to get up into the tiny toilet at the back. A walking frame is ok but a wheelchair would be more problematic and you would need assistance from staff or family to get...
