I hope this place never closes down. It raises so many questions — why is there a Japanese guy running a london themed fish and chip shop? How is there a fish shop smack in the middle of concrete high rises and bougie brunch places? Why is there Christmas decor and a lawn table inside?
How this glorious anomaly has stood the test of time, despite no social media presence, is a testament to its food. Cheap prices, fantastic fish and chips and better than anything you’d get from fish and chip stores near the beach.
No 1 Old London seafood should be heritage listed for its contribution to South Yarra. It has somehow outlasted every single restaurant on Claremont and Yarra st. The snapper is fresh and sweet and so juicy. The batter is just the right ratio too!!! Too many places coat the fish too much but this place has the PERFECT ratio!!!!
The owner is so kind and his daughter is so sweet!!! When you are there, his daughter will love to chat with you about how she loves princesses :)
I’m definitely coming again!!! My new favourite fish and chips store!!! ❤️❤️

The chips were fat and deep fried without being oily, and coated in a good amount of chicken salt.
I will absolutely be coming back!!
