REVIEW: It was so easy to book and reserve a table at Dainty Sichuan through Google.
❤️ My favourite dishes were the golden pot boiling fish and the threaded pancake. The golden pot came sizzling and cackling hot with oil, as we watched the waitress scoop out the chilli seeds with a slotted ladle. Then we were left with flavoursome oil and the softest fish that simply melted it on our tongues. It was divine! Threaded pancake was an oily chaotic mess that was addictive. I was in the mood for something fried, flaky and savoury. This hit me in all the right places. It was also great at killing off the spice from the crazy tongue tingling lamb ribs!! Their food shines best when it's ordered in with large variety and shared amongst diners. 💫
✔️ Service was great. The waitress was so helpful in advising us what to order, and ensuring that we had enough as a table of 6. 🤩 Food came out whenever it was ready so there was no delay. ➖ I personally didn't like we had to crack open the crab to obtain the harder meat ourselves, but they did provide us one crab cracker to dig for the...
Read moreDainty Sichuan - A place for uptown spicy Chinese Sichuan food. flavours are strong and potent.💪
Appetizer doesn’t come from the menu, it begins from South Yarra train station. Aromas of the spices tickle your stomach and the craving begins there😍.
We ordered Bang bang Chicken🍗, Spicy Pork Slices, Stewed Pork Belly and Potato Threads with Hot Capsicum, much more than two person can eat, makes a delightful “tomorrows lunch” as well.
Flavor's are strong and spicy🌶🌶, the Bang Bang Chicken really does have that Bang in spice. Up next was the sliced pork, didn’t taste much different to the Bang bang, maybe less sweet, but the pork in the chilli oil, nice job! You’d have to try it for yourself, I can’t think of a word to explain it, maybe because i’m too busy pigging out on the left overs while I write this review😅.
The Stewed Pork Belly is a reminisces of Vietnamese braised pork, rich in flavour but also quite fatty, I convince myself to trade taste and satisfaction for weight at times, and this was a time well worth.👊
Potato Threads with Hot Capsicum was tough to eat, as you’d expect from noodles being made of Potatoes, it was like a fight to get the noodles to loosen themselves from each other, although you could taste the “wok” flavour, a similar statement flavour you would get when you get quality fried rice😋 Experience was sort of like an adventure from fighting the army of spices and chills to the tangling grips of potato noodles. Our take? We come here every so often, its a good treat once in a while, the smell from the restaurant really does tease you, especially if you’re in the area often.😊

Read moreWe went to Dainty Sichuan for our anniversary today! Overall the experience was fine, for the price it was a little underwhelming. (total of $102 for two people) We ordered a vegetarian mapo tofu (they didn't have an option with pork mince and we don't eat beef), steamed chicken with ginger and scallion oil, and liangfen. The service was okay, we wanted to ask how much the lobster mapo tofu would be since we didn't know what the market price for it is nowadays, and they gave us a confusing answer so we didn't end up ordering it. They told us how much it would be per kilo ($256/kg?) and we weren't sure how much would be in the mapo tofu (I tried to clarify this and the waiter said there's about 1kg in the portion which didn't sound right, so we just decided not to get it). The mapo tofu was fine, but didn't stand out as something I would order again necessarily. The liangfen was tasty and the portion size was good, but got a little monotonous after a while of eating it (it's probably better to order this with a large table of people so it can be shared around more). The steamed chicken was very tasty and the ginger scallion oil was nice! Probably my favourite out of the dishes. If we had the budget/tummy space we would have ordered a veggie dish.
I would maybe go back with a larger group (and when I have more disposable income/I'm not paying) to try more variety, but tbh I'm a little disappointed and was hoping for a more memorable meal for our...
