The biggest disappointment.
There is nothing good about this place. As soon as we walk in we had to grab menus for ourselves from another table. When we wanted to order the waitress simply slapped a piece of paper on the table for us to write our order on and walked off. No pencil or pen, again had to grab one for ourselves from the table next to us.
Then it took 30 minutes for the first of our 4 plates of food to come (this coming AFTER we had a complaint about how long it had been). Then our second plate came soon after that but BOTH were not what we ordered.
It had been such a long wait that we were hungry and decided to take the food anyway. Only after we had finished the two plates of food did the last two plates of food come. Thankfully correct.
Throughout this whole process there was not a single apology, rather choosing to defend themselves by saying things such as ‘you told us your order, you didn’t write it down’. This meant they couldn’t find the order slip to prove that what we got was the wrong food. They found it in the end but again no sorry.
Whilst all of this was happening we watched SEVERAL tables whom had arrived and ordered much much much later than us get their food, eat, pay and leave.
Ended up spending 40-50 minutes just waiting for food. The food that arrived didn’t taste amazing either, more average than anything.
Extremely disgusted with the service and length of time it took to get anything done. Would not go back or...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at O'Town in Glen Waverley and found the experience to be quite delightful. The dishes offered are not only delicious but also great value for money, making it an attractive dining option for those looking to enjoy authentic cuisine without breaking the bank.
I tried their Penang Assam Laksa, and it was an absolute delight. This dish stands out as one of the best I've tasted in Melbourne, showcasing the restaurant's commitment to authentic Malaysian flavors. The Assam Laksa boasted a rich and tangy broth, perfectly balanced with the subtle sweetness of tamarind and the fragrant aroma of lemongrass and galangal. The attention to detail in the soup's complexity, with layers of flavors that danced on my palate with each spoonful. It is a culinary experience that transports diners to the bustling streets of Penang.
One thing to note is the weekend surcharge that is applied, which may deter some patrons from visiting during peak times. However, on weekdays, the restaurant maintains a bustling atmosphere with a steady stream of customers, adding to the lively ambiance.
Overall, I recommend O'Town for its fantastic dishes and excellent value, especially for weekday visits when you can avoid the...
Read moreWhat to expect when eating here? O'town offers Malaysian curries & wok dishes, Laksa and broth based noodle soups and some Chinese inspired stir fries. It has a family/transient feel about it, and delivers a middle of the road dining experience with ok service. What's great about it? Suprisingly enough, for a Malaysian resteraunt it delivers a killer but different beef & black bean sauce! This dish is finished with a splash of shaoxing wine, elevating the fragrance.❤it. Very reasonably priced!!
What's good about it? O'Town offers an efficient ordering system that gets your meal from the kitchen to your table quick smart! Plenty of space and seating which can accommodate for large family groups. Serving size is also good.
What's not so good about it? Curries come out lukewarm. Depth of flavour is lacking in many dishes. Broth base isn't well balanced. Prominent flavour of dried anchovies in the Nasi Goreng and chilli condiment which overpowers the whole dish.
Overall: Just OK on all fronts. Nothing worth writing home about, but you won't regret spending your hard earned here.⭐⭐⭐ If you enjoyed this review please consider giving it a like 👍and you can follow me by clicking on my icon for more honest and...
