When visiting Piatella Cafe Bar I ordered an eggs Benedict with avocado. The eggs came out and had black and white fluff and lint all over them and the avocado had a brown tinge to it, not like a subtle brown, it was basically brown avocado which meant it was past the use by date. I told a waitress of my concerns as I did not want to eat the eggs or avocado, the waitress got her manager. I explained my concerns to the manager, the entire time his eyes were shifting up and down as he kept starring down at my chest, this made me extremely uncomfortable and I ended the conversation very quickly, he was also very matter of fact and told me that I should eat the food regardless if it is soiled or not, I have extensive knowledge and training in food services and what I was served should have been acknowledged and I should not have been charged for it. I never make a fuss over things, however I did not want to pay for something that I couldn't eat as it was covered in fluff and was past the use by date, and now I am writing this review because I feel like the manager couldn't care less as to what I had to say on the day and made me extremely uncomfortable starring at my chest. While I was there I witnessed the manager conducting a waitress interview, the manager was extremely nice to this young girl he was interviewing. Immediately after I witnessed him micro managing the waitresses and speaking to them with no respect at all, all the reviews saying the waitress staff were rude, well it starts from somewhere... Also, after I asked to settle the bill once the manager told me I was going to have to still pay for the food the manager repeatedly asked me if I wanted some of their desert food (which I know is much harder to sell, so he was theoretically trying to get rid of food that he would eventually throw away - you would hope anyways), I explained that I was not eating anything of the sweet variety as I was unable to eat it, however he kept offering it to me, so it was made clear to me that he was not listening to anything I was telling him. His customer service is disgusting, this place only cares about their revenue. Trust me, won't be long till your poor customer service will be reflected within your revenue. I support local businesses, but I cannot support a business who treats their...

Robin, calls himself manager but doesn’t really how to behave like one

I’ve been a regular customer at this cafe bar in the past, but my recent experience was nothing short of appalling.

The so-called "manager" named Robin is an absolute disgrace and needs to be taught how to speak to customers. His arrogant and disrespectful behavior ruined our evening.

We ordered waffles, and after eating about half, we found a strand of hair in it. When we informed the waitress, she was polite, apologized, and offered to replace it. We declined because we had already eaten enough and didn’t want to waste food by ordering a whole new plate. She then offered to take the item off the bill, to which we agreed.

However, when we went to pay at the counter, the item was still on the bill. I politely reminded them about the waitress’s offer, and that’s when Robin decided to make a dramatic entrance. He arrogantly refused to take it off, claiming we ate the waffles after finding the hair, which was absolutely untrue. Despite our repeated attempts to explain that we only had a few more bites before leaving the rest, he talked to us in the most condescending and accusatory tone, essentially blaming us for eating after finding the hair.

His lack of basic understanding, customer service, and courtesy was shocking. He made us feel like we were at fault for the incident and completely dismissed our concerns. Robin’s behavior is a major red flag, and I sincerely hope the owner addresses this issue before more customers are driven away by his terrible attitude.

If this is how management handles situations, then I’d think twice before stepping foot here again. Avoid at all costs unless you want to deal with an unprofessional and...

I’ve been going to Piatella for over a decade now, for friend catch-ups and birthday dinners for my kids. I haven’t had any issues at all with service and the food is always fabulous. However last night I was particularly dissapointed in the service I recieved. When going to pay, my friend who always attends this restaurant and knows the staff well asked if we can pay seperately, in the past it hasn’t been an issue. So when I went to pay for my part of the bill. The lady serving me looked annoyed straight off the bat she did not greet me well. No smile, if anything she looked annoyed. I greeted her with a smile and was a bit shocked at her demeanour towards me. Then when I asked to pay my bill seperately she preceded to roll her eyes not look at me directly and pretty much let out a big sigh and looked annoyed at me. I was a bit taken back by her reaction. And I paid my part and went to my friends and told them what happened and they were quite surprised. So I said to the lady that served me that she was quite rude and she proceeded to argue with me. I’ve never been treated this way ever. I did defend myself to her because I couldn’t believe the lies and the trash coming out of her mouth. I didn’t get her name. But I thought I’d mention how disgusted I was by her treatment towards me. The rest of the staff were friendly as always and kind. I just hope that in the future this particular lady understands that in a customer service job being friendly and kind goes a long way. And some people might tolerate your rudeness but I needed to pull you up on it as you were an embarrassment to the...

The name Piatella (Greek word for platter), is reflected in their portion sizes and the wonderful flavours in each dish. This is one popular family-owned restaurant, right in the entertainment precinct in Glen Waverley, and it's the perfect place to dine with the family. They have plenty of family-friendly booths, and their outdoor dining area is weatherproofed (and secure for the little ones). Their menu offers a variety of meals to suit all tastes, with Modern Australian favourites and French, Belgian and Greek influences in their menu. They're probably mostly known for their large sweets offering, which includes a large cabinet of cakes and tarts. But what you might not know, is they have a great crepe and waffle menu too! No matter your tastes, this family-friendly venue is a great one for your next outing. They're quite the popular spot for all dining groups, whether it's a date night or catch up with your friends. 📷 Kid's Meals - Creamy Linguini & Mini Chicken Schnitzel (served with chips) 📷 Grilled Octopus (chargrilled octopus dressed in olive oil, oregano lemon dressing, served with Greek salad, crusty bread and tzatziki) 📷 Grilled Calamari Salad (served on a bed of wild roquette, fresh herbs and oregano, vine-ripened tomatoes, avocado and a zesty lemon dressing) 📷 Desserts - Piatella Special (Crepe - Fresh Strawberries and banana topped with Nutella) / Berry Surprise (Waffles - Berry Compote, Fresh Strawberries, French Vanilla Creme and Maple Syrup).

ORDERED: 🧀 Saganaki Cheese: Pan-fried Kefalograviera cheese served the traditional way ($17.00) 🍱 Piatella Souvlaki (open plate): Pulled lamb or chicken, Danish feta cheese, home made tzatziki and salad on warm pita bread, served with beer batter chips ($24.00) REVIEW: Incredibly filling portion for the souvlaki. Loved the greek salad, really refreshing with the classic feta cheese. Great way to cut through the heaviness of the meat and the pita. A classic side is the chips, wonderfully crisp and crunchy. It's my first experience with saganaki cheese and it tastes very similar to halloumi but less saltier. I love halloumi!! Fantastic choice. The reason why it's not full five stars is that I chose to have the lamb and it was decent. Wish the lamb was fattier, or flavoured more heavily, because it wasn't memorable. The few fatty pieces were my favourite (as fat is flavour!!), but otherwise was quite lean. Really a good opportunity to make an impact here. We got sat in an awkward lil place off the corner of the main restaurant area, where the tables were stacked neatly on each other. It looked a little bit neglected and we were worried about the service missing us. However, the waitresses proved us wrong! She was great and came by to top us up with water.

I came here around 3pm on a Friday, 3 tables were occupied. I ordered a skinny flat white and 2 cakes (sticky date pudding and pistachio cheesecake). The coffee was good, not the best but I enjoyed it. The regular was $4.50 while large was $4.80 so it made sense to get the large. With the coffee being a good price, I assumed the cake would be the same so I was shocked when I found out upon paying that it was $11 a cake!! Maybe it was because ice cream was added but the staff did not explain this to me, had I known, I would not have said yes to ice cream. I also did not realise ice cream was going to be added to both my cakes, he only asked when I ordered the sticky date pudding, when I later added the cheesecake, he didn't ask so I think it's pretty dodgy that he added it. So I'm pretty disappointed with this place, I don't like places that tricks their customer's into paying more. The pudding was mediocre while cheesecake was bad, tasted like thickened cream. I hate wasting food so I struggled with it for an hour then felt sick after that.
